Dinner Tonight

Recently Linda posted a recipe for stuffed squash that sounded so good so tonight I went and made it since squash is on sale at my produce stand.  I doubled the recipe and used 2 different kinds of squash, acorn squash and a different one whose name I can't remember but it is shaped like a pumpkin but is yellow and green.  Anyway, they look great and I can't wait to eat one.  I am going to hopefully be able to freeze the rest for later.

I also tried a new apple that I never heard of called aurora apples.  OMG it is the best apple I ever had.  I was buying honeycrisp, which up until now was my favorite and the guy had some cut up to try.  I wanted to give back the honeycrisps I had bought but I just bought some more of these.  He told me they were developed to be like the honeycrisp.  If you haven't had one yet I hope you can find some near you.

If you like honeycrisps you need to find some auroras.  They made me forget my love affair with the honeycrisps.

I love winter squash.  Didn't grow any this year for some reason.

I bought some Ginger Crisp apples this year.  Went to get honey crisp but after tasting these, I liked them better.  Haven't seen Auroras but will look for them.

They do look Good!!!   Let us know after you try them!  I've never ate squash but I am going to try these.  I figured if I don't like the squash I will just eat the filling like I do with stuffed peppers.

I just got hooked on honey crisps a week ago because they were giving out samples at Walmart.  I fell in love with them immediately but I will look for the Auroa's and the kind that Price mentioned

Maybe Carnival squash? http://whatscookingamerica.net/squash.htm

I like Honeycrisps but I don't eat may apples raw, I like to cook with mine and I LOVE tart apples.

I need to get dh over to an apple stand near us for some Black Arkansas apples (they keep forever compared to others) so I will store a bushel in my basement for over the winter.

I don't think it was a Carnival squash.  I'll stop by the produce stand and write down the name.  To be honest, the flesh was too sweet for the recipe.  I loved the filling but not so much the squash.  Tonight I'll try the acorn squash.

I just looked online and I am pretty sure it was a Sweet Dumpling squash.  Duh, no wonder it was so sweet.

Those ( Delicatas or Sweet Dumplings ) are without a doubt the best tasting heirlooom squashes !  Save some seeds LadyTazz if you can.. theyre super easy to grow and the very FIRST winter squash you'll LOVE eating all summer .

I also am crazy about the small  2 cup serving size ( just right for recipes like stews squash soups pumpkin muffins or stuffing ) .
