Gaining?!

I am 2 weeks post-op and think I am doing well.  I have lost 11.8 lbs in the last two weeks since my surgery, 20.8 lbs since I started my liquid diet ... so I thought that was good.  I weighed myself this morning and I am UP 1 lb!!  How does someone gain weight?? I have heard of stalls, but I didn't realize during those stalls ... some gain weight!!   For the first 10 days or so, I was losing approx 1 lb a day ... I sure hope I don't start gaining 1 lb per day!!

Hopefully this is normal and I am not doing anything wrong?

You are retaining water.  Surprisingly enough the fix for that is drinking more fluids.  Make sure you are getting at least 64 oz a day. more is better.

Congrats on your Surgery!!!!!

I don't think most people gain during a stall.  There are several reasons why you might have a gain.  One might be because your body has been adjusting to having surgery and some of the weight you have lost could be from the IV's.

Water is a necessity!!!!  Before WLS I rarely drank anything.  It took me all week to drink a 16 oz. Diet Pepsi. Now I crave fluids.  I know it's hard early out but try to sip on something all day long.

Also you might have a gain if it is around your period time.

If you haven't measured yourself this is the time to do it.  For some strange reason we usually lose inches during a stall and checking our measurements is a way to keep us motivated.

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

Don't worry , be happy wink.  Our bodies do some pretty strange up and down things during the losing process and sodium and TOM can contribute to it.  Just stick to your program and stay off the scale if it makes you crazy.  You won't keep losing a pound a day for long as a lightweight.  Don't let it make you crazy.
