First appointment with my new doctor for Revision tomorrow
Good Morning Everyone,
It's been a while since I have been on OH. I had a Lap Band in 2008 and then revised to the VSG in 2009. I know not many people have had problems losing weight with the Sleeve. I just believe that I should have had the Gastric Bypass (RNY) the very first time. Now I am 52 years old and I have made up my mind to get this surgery done and get healthy. I have 4 diseases right now Type II Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, GERD, Sleep Apnea. I'm hoping that BCBS Federal will cover my surgery. I just need some encouragement right now. I am 5'1" and 190 lbs. Oh yes, I could not chose the DS because of my BMI not being 50 or more.
Thanks.
I hope you can get your revision. I thought I wanted a sleeve and my insurance wouldn't pay for it so I did a
RNY. Now, I am thrilled that I went that route. I have friends that is sleeves and never did reach goal. RNY should work for you if you follow the program and stick around here and get support. I was 5', 220 and 62 and it worked for me. You can do this. Good luck with your approval.

I did the same thing self pay for the Sleeve. Dr. Gorospe said at his seminar that more people with Sleeves are not reaching their goals, you are right. I sure hope that I do get approved for the RNY and have success this time. Thanks so much for sharing, that gives me hope!
Good luck! Not sure how Fed BCBS pays for revisions.... I hope they can make it work for you!

He will do my surgery, just have to wait see the Psychiatrist and Dietician before the office turns in the paper work to BCBS Fed.
Because I have a Haital Hernia and bad Acid Reflux, he told me that RNY would be the best choice. My Sleeve just made it worse.
Doctor told me there was a study done on Sleevers about 3 or 4 months ago, most of them the Sleevers developed a hunger for sweets and gained weight back. Even though they were not sweet lovers before the surgery. That is ME!!! I'm excited about getting RNY!!!
Thanks for your reply!
Wishing you all the best. I sure wish the DS was more accepted. I know a couple folks who started as LW revisions with BCBS Fed got it covered. I don't know the ends and outs but apparently a revision under Federal doesn't have that 50 BMI limitation like the regular BCBS plans. I trust what you're saying, things seem to be constantly changing.
