I'm Going In, Wish Me Luck
As most of you know I have become a major clothes junkie. I am a cheapskate and I can't resist a good buy, even if it's for something I don't really need, want or even like. It's a sickness I tell you. So at my local thrift store they have senior day every Tuesday and since I became a "senior" last Dec I hit the store most Tuesdays to see what they have.
Now, since my size has been the same since 2011, this is the third summer I have been at this size. And since my size hasn't changed I haven't out grown any clothes and I have a hard time parting with anything, even if I've never worn it and probably never will. With the weather changing it is time to go in and toss all the things I haven't worn in years and put away the things I do wear but won't need for at least another 8 or 9 months. I am about to make some Craiglister very lucky.
Please keep me in your thoughts as I go through this purge. Every damn article of clothing I fight with myself about keeping. I keep telling myself I might want to wear it some time. And I have a lot of clothes that are too big and have always been too big but since I keep expecting that damn bounce back I've kept "just in case". I tell myself that if I do gain weight I can always go back to the thrift store and get new clothes that fit me. It's not as if they will run out of that size and since I rarely spend more then $5 on any item of clothes it won't break me. I am sick I tell you. I need help.
When I get done with this there should be at least two 39 gallon trash bags full of clothes. If I don't manage that then I have failed at my mission. Wish me luck.

Good luck, I have the same disease :) I haven't been the same size long enough to overflow the closets, but they are FULL. I have a weakness for Salvation army 47 cent sale color tags on Saturdays and Goodwill 99 cent days color on Sunday.

The results:
6 large lawn bags full.
Over 25 pairs of jeans and pants.
Over 25 dresses.
About 30 tops.
Plus a dozen purses, several pajamas, slips, bathing suits and other things.
And still I have about a dozen pairs of Levi's 501 jeans. I couldn't get rid of any of them. My closet is pretty bare but that means I can do more shopping!

Nice job. In the last year, I've lost 35lbs of my bounce back weight. I gave all my larger clothes to my mother and said keep em or donate them. I won't be that size again. It's funny how I have so few clothes as compared to my parents. Maybe it's because they have had a longer time to accumulate them, but it's probably because I am crazy about getting rid of things I don't need or want. Very funny how my dad has become a shopping addict. I think he has everything in the Lands End catalog.

35 pounds of regain!!! 30 lost!!! Just a little more to go.
LOL Tazz - you're too funny! But, I know what you mean. While I have done the "bounce back" I keep the smaller sizes cause "I will get back into them"...
Good for you and enjoy shopping!

That is a fantastic pile of bags you've got there. Just think how happy someone is going to be when they hit your jackpot! I always find it helpful to use solid, non-transparent, trash bags as once I've put it in the bag, I can't remember what's in there! Sometimes I leave the bags in my car for a few days to see if I feel something calling out to me, but mostly I just bag and drop it off in the same day. Just think of all the great stuff you'll pick up now that you've got the room oth in your closets but also in your head space! Enjoy the freedom three years of the same size brings - that's an amazing thing in and of itself!

I was just looking the other day at the summer stuff that I never put on. Hummmmm. I really could get rid of some stuff but that is a lot harder than buying new stuff, just in case I may wear it. Looking at my closet, I'm not sure what I wore last winter. It doesn't look like I have much but a lot is still packed. Probably like the summer, I wore the same thing over and over.
