Menus and Miles Wed. Sept. 11
I grew up in the Bay Area 10 miles North of San Francisco. I went to University in Oregon and then went to France on my junior year abroad and meet my future husband (we celebrate our 18 wedding anniversary on Monday). After we got married, we lived in Berkeley, California for 7 years where two of our three sons were born and then we moved to Brussels in early 2002. Really love it here despite the crummy weather! Great place to raise our boys! I have been gone so long from the States that it isn't really home anymore, but I am still American at heart!
I know it does sound exciting, but it's pretty ordinary- girl meets boy, falls in love, gets married, starts a family, builds a home etc. And yes, my parents fly over once or twice a year. It's cheaper and easier for them to come to us and we have lots of extra room! My mother has been wonderful over the years to both call the boys and video/skype with them -daily when they were younger and now it's more like 2x week - so they have a very intimate and close relationship, much more so then with my husbands family who live 6 hours away. Physical distance isn't what separates us the most it is emotional distance. And we have all learned that it's the little things that keep us close.
Hug those grandbabies extra tight today. You are so very lucky to have them in your back pocket!
Hi guys,
Remembering all those lost on Sep 11, 2001, in the follow-on military action, and those lost or hurt in further attacks. Never forget.
For the past year I've been working with a Command Sergeant Major who was there at ground zero providing National Guard support and he's been deployed to Iraq twice and Afghanistan once. Today he was especially quiet.

Hi Roz,
Our flagpole got flattened to the ground in 07 when the tornado came through our town. We got another one as soon as we could. It is amazing how I can't remember something from last week but I can remember exactly where I was on 9/11 and most everything from that day and I can remember exactly what happened when JFK was shot.
DH's aunt is doing better. She is hoping to go to rehab in the town where she lives either tomorrow or Friday.

When JFK died we were at my Unlce's house and his bird died almost to the second. I'm glad your aunt is doing better.
I made some Carbquik muffins last night and I ate 3!!!!!! After that I bagged them and put them in the freezer as fast as I could and I didn't pack any for lunch today. I left out the chocolate chips this time but I thought....crap....you just ate almost 300 calories without thinking!!!
Sounds Good Linda!

Hi Roz,
We don't have a flag, but I always remember 9/11 - I used to work in the WT2 and then in the building next door. I'd left NYC a year before 9/11 - but it resonates every year.
protein hot coco
protein lemonade
oatmeal w/egg and a bit of Dannon 2x protein yoghurt
3/4 of a homemade veggie pizza made with a tortilla, broccoli, olives, mushrooms and part-skim mozzarella. (I wasn't really hungry but hadn't eaten for a long while and decided it was better to get the nutrients).
Swam 40 minutes today.
