Menus and Miles Wed. August 21st
She is a very good cook and baker, but I actually probably learned to cook from my grandmother. I spent lots of time in the kitchen with her on the weekends. I did not bring my carbquik. Luckily, she has not made anything chocolate this time!!
My mother always made the best mac & cheese for me and every Sunday she would cook us pancakes before we went to Sunday School and Church. The funny thing was we never knew what the pancakes were going to be made of - if she was out of flour she just substituted something!! But they were always wonderful.
I spent almost every Friday night at my grandparents house, they were like a second set of parents to me. My dad and his parents were always very close and we always lived within a couple of blocks of them.
I wish I was a better cook but I would have to eat it all myself because DH won't try anything new. 2 of my Son-in-laws are good cooks and it's a good thing because my DD's didn't learn much from me. My oldest ones DH eats anything that is put in front of him so DD doesn't worry to much about what they eat.
I really hope my grandchildren have good memories coming to Grandma and Pap's house. I loved my Grandma so much and I was her "favorite". I didn't even realize how much that hurt my sister until the last couple of years. I try really hard not to show favorites but give them all special attention. We decided to start taking them places in smaller groups occasionally because we just can't pay attention to 8 (added new step-granddaughter) at once. We took the 8 yr. old and two 5 yr. olds to the rodeo the other night and they seemed so bored I figured the only thing they enjoyed was the funnel cakes and ice cream but when they were on the way home they were saying how much fun they had.
I can't remember if I told you about the marbles. DH has been hiding marbles in the dirt pile at the back of our property and the 2 five year olds are having a blast finding them. The boys spent the night and it was raining this morning and Houston said it's raining and more marbles are going to grow! He was sooooo excited!!! I'll have to make sure DH hurries and puts some out after work.
