One Year Anniversary!
Well, today is one year for me. I have lost 83 lbs. which I am not sure if its normal or not. I thought I would be closer to 100 lbs but I am healthy. I only question because I want to make sure I am doing everything ok. Like why only 83lbs, what am I doing wrong? LOL.
Silly I know.
I started at 220 lbs. and I am not 137 lbs.
I am no longer considered obese or overweight even. What a wonderful feeling. I do constantly worry about regain though now that I am closer to that 18 month out phase. That sticks in my head, because my impression is, after 18 months out, your tool isn't helping you as much as it did the first 18 months, like it there but you can really screw up. I am going to have to really pay attention and make sure I don't start going backwards and wind up where I started or worse. I know the percentage isn't high but I know A LOT of people that had gastric bypass done and they have a lot of regain. to the point they are not healthy, not just a little regain... So I worry I will fall into that. :( Its a constant worry.
I never ate a lot to begin with but still. I have been stuck at 137 for awhile now, months even. What a hell of a number too LOL. It just couldn't be like 135 to make me happy, round it down... NOT UP... LOL.
Anyway, just babbling and throwing my thoughts out there...
Love you guys, you have been such a help through this process. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks again.
Barb
congrats on your 1st year!!!! Nothing wrong with 83lbs lost at all. And if you are not overweight, then you are in the normal BMI range?? Is your goal realistic? Most of us believe in going as low as you can for bounce back but maybe you are there?
Maintanence is hard, no kidding. but many of us are getting the hang of it. Part of it is being responsible. We log on Miles and Menus each day, we log on Weigh in Sundays.
If you really want to lose more, start with miles and menus. Are you getting exercise? Too many carbs? We have lots of folks who have been there and can offer suggestions.

I thought it was a realistic goal. My BMI is good though but I am 5'3" and was 115 in high school. I figured 120- 125 would be realistic but guess not. If I stay around this weight I would be ok with it. But like you said, that rebound regain. I would rather get a little lower first before saying I am done, I like to have a little wiggle room for any regain. Does everyone have regain to some extent? or is it possible this is just the weight I will be at???
I would like to do the menu and miles thing, but haven't been able to get on lately as much as i would like to. A lot going on at work and home, but most will be resolved soon so maybe I will be able to.
Carbs make me sick, so I don't eat a lot of them. I can't have chips or potatoes of any kind. pasta also in that category but funny thing is, cheese its aren't. I stacked on them awhile back and it did nothing to me. I thought for sure I would be feeling sick but was craving them so I had some. :/
Other than that I eat lean meats and always a veggie or salad. I still don't get all my fluids in. I have picked up on drinking more recently so maybe I am now. I will have around 3 to 4 bottles(16.9 oz.) a day. some water some diet green tea but mostly water. Plus my 20oz coffee in the morning, and also my protein shake. I think that may have something to do with it because before I couldn't get it all in.
Congrats on your 1 year!!
I'm also 5'3". I hit my goal of 125... but I bounced back to 135. I'd like to get back down in the upper 120's... Everyone's built different though. My surgeon wanted to see me at 115... I KNEW that wasn't going to happen and wasn't going to try to kill myself to make it happen.
But - just because it's a year doesn't mean you are done yet. When I was 15 months I lost another 3 and kept them off for a LONG time.. I think my honeymoon period lasted for closer to 2 years. There are many here that have kept losing even longer.
Yes, I agree with Price. Log on M&M. From seeing what you eat - perhaps you're not eating enough? But it sounds like you're doing great - and eating the right stuff. Do you eat fruit? There's a lot of hidden sugar in that. We also say up your protein drinks - that's what I would do when I needed a boost to get losing again (need to take my own advice - lol)

Happy one year anniversary!!
Nothing wrong with 83 pounds - that is great.
I lost well into my second year, a lot slower but it was still coming off. Of course, I was trying different foods and probably added back some things I should not have. Trust me that will catch up with you when the malabsorption stops.
I agree with the others, log your food somewhere so you can really see what you are getting. Be sure to continue to weigh and measure. Eat slow so you will know when you are full. Don't drink with your meals. I like to do the Sunday weigh in post because it helps me see where I am at honestly and helps me know to get back on track.

Hey sleeve sister!! Look at you! You have done great rocking this journey!
I started at 230 lbs and now I'm at 150 lbs, another 20 lbs to go to reach my personal goal. I'm technically still overweight until I hit 145 lbs which I was hoping to be at by my 1 year. Almost made it. I've been stuck at 150 lbs now for a little over the month. My surgeon was happy at 160 lbs, but I know I still have more around my middle that needs to be GONE. We will get there!

Thank you everyone for all the advice, I do take it all to heart. I will listen. :-)
And Happy Surgiversary to you too Major Mom.
Deb, you'll get there too. :)
I have my doubts when I stall for months at a time LOL. When I see others losing more than me and have the same stats. :/ But I try to tell myself everyone is different and loses differently. I do feel great and I have to remember that part. I am trying to work out more too.
I love this forum. :)
