Hello to all of our Lightweights!!!  If you are visiting WELCOME....PLEASE JOIN US and POST!!!!!    Besides my tool,  I count  Posting on the LW board as my #1 reason for being successful on this exciting journey!!!!

WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!!   AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!!  THEY ARE ADDICTING!!  THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!!  THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.

Success in Maintenance starts with good choices during the Honeymoon Period

Hello LW's!!!!!!!!  I'm having a calm and awesome day....how about you?   I just talked to a friend who had some questions about WLS and I told her the most important thing I could possibly tell her is to go to a Surgeon who specializes in WLS.  I hope she takes my advice.  We have a General surgeon (she mentioned him) in our home town who performs the band and RNY with no office visits until right before surgery, no nutrition information other than when you are released from the hospital, one follow up appt. and then a see you later and good luck. Who in the right mind would make such a major change in their life and not expect more from their surgeon?

I only expected great surgery from my surgeon, which I'm very grateful I got.  The post op diet told me toast, jacket potatoes and low fat - no, no, no!!  I get my info here - Atkins is the way to go.  And as for the vitamin advice - I followed the universal 'go to Vitalady' advice.

B1 Protein shake 30
B2 Greek yogurt 18
S Paleo Protein Banana mug cake 10
L Cheesey chicken breast 30
S 1/2 protein bar 15
S Cheese 10
S Carrots w hummus 6
D McDonald's chicken selects 21

Protein: 140
F 96+
V All in (inc 7 batches of calcium) night time iron pending

Doh - only 140g protein - 150 is kinda my new standard but I'm running low on protein powder plus I'm a bit bored of it.

You Surgeon probably has a lot more experience than our little town country Surgeon. Apparently the surgeon my friend mentioned stopped doing the band because too many were slipping.

Sounds Good!

Hi Roz,

No job yet. But I've found a good therapist and psychiatrist and hope my path is headed on the right direction.

It sounds like you are heading in the right direction.  That type of help might be even more important than a job with the adjustment you are going through.

I am exhausted today - don't have the energy to do anything.  I started my period and sometimes I just curl in bed and sleep 12 hours on those days, so I'm planning on doing that when I get home from work.

Breakfast - Adkins Advantage - 15g

Syntrax Nectar - 1/2 packet 11g

Elevenses - scrambled egg with cottage cheese

Danon 2x protein vanilla greek yoghurt

Isopure 1/3 bottle - diluted - 15 grams

refried beans, bit of cheese, salsa and plain yoghurt w/some chicken

don't have all the nutrition values as myfitnesspal keeps getting hung up today.

will walk the dog when I get home.  Then bed by 8 I think, if not 7.

So looking forward to being able to take pills normally and not grind them up - they taint everything.

Hope you are feeling better!!  I had a hysterectomy when I was in my early 30's but I remember those days.

You could be tired because your Protein seems low to me. I was allowed to swallow pills that weren't any bigger than a piece of Good n Plenty candy.

Hi Roz,

Finally home tonight.  At least I did get to see two of the grandkiddies tonight.  I had to play tag with DGD#1 before I could leave.  I"m sure her mom and dad loved us running through the house!!  Not going to be long before it is bed time.  I'm tired tonight.  I have to travel tomorrow morning, but it is a short trip - 64 miles round trip.

B:  Protein Decaf Coffee
      Decaf Coffee
Blueberry Carbquik Biscuit w/ I Can't Believe its not butter
S:  Lemon Tea Protein Drink
L:  Blueberry Carbquik Biscuit w/ deli ham, deli turkey & 1/2 slice of reduced fat pepperjack cheese
S:  Lemon Tea Protein Drink
D:  1/2 Applebees Weigh****cher Zesty Roma Chicken & Shrimp
S:  Chocolate Truffle Protein Drink

Vitamins:  Done
Water/Fluids:  120 ozs
Miles:  None except in car

What I really wanted for supper was the Quesidellia Burger and had planned on getting it and eating 1/2 tonight and the rest tomorrow minus the french fries.  Yesterday I looked up Applebees and pulled up the nutrition menu and that burger has 1400 calories - just the burger not including any sides.  It has a whopping 105 fat grams.  I had no idea it was this bad.  I always thought this was a better choice than a regular hamburger with a bun.  Needless to say, I had to tell my DIL to change my order and went with something off the weigh****chers menu.

It is unreal that there are still surgeons out there with no follow up care.  If I have a problem now almost 4 years out, I call my surgeon's office and talk to the nurse of the NUT.  If I lived closer, I would go to the support meetings also.  I need all the help I can get!!
