Monday...Monday. Did anyone watch the Today Show this morning? They had a segment called 60+ and Fabulous. They are right about some things but I wonder if it's my age or the fact that I am thin, happier and healthier now. At 60 I have a lot more confidence, I smile a lot more, when my family looks at me I see a reflection of how much I love them and the only things stopping me from doing something I want to do is me. I guess it's a little of both.

Oooh, my first post on Menus and Miles! So excited. I'm 3 weeks post-surgery tomorrow so still limited on what I can eat - but here goes:
Breakfast: GHP Hot chocolate - 15 g protein (GHP is Grand Health Partners - they have their own line of food that I like and I am a former patient)
Syntrax Nectar Lemon Ice Tea - 17 grams (spilled part of the 23 gram bag - I keep adding water and ice and drink this through the day.)
Elevenses: 1 scrambled egg w/ff cottage cheese - 14 grams
Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yoghurt - 12 grams
Dinner - refried beans, pureed chicken/ salsa and plain yoghurt - 9 grams
Probably a protein drink or one more thing this evening. Maybe pudding to take my Lexapro with.
prevacid done
thyroid done
vitamins to do
Did 30 minutes of lap swimming with aqua gloves. Feels good, not too tired - first time back in the pool since surgery.
And the first one of the day...Congrats!
I think it's great that you can drink the protein drinks already! I had to use unflavored early out in my foods because I could not get the drinks down. Part of the reason for that was because I didn't even drink water before surgery. Now I crave them.
You might want to check on this but I have always heard that you can't sip on the same protein drink because our saliva breaks done the protein.
Have you found a site to calculate your calories, protein, carbs, etc. on? It's a
Sounds like you are having a good start with your exciting journey!

Hi Roz,
They let me do full liquid protein drinks about 10 days post surgery. Then add blended/pureed food at 2 weeks. I hadn't heard about not sipping, just figured it would be helpful for the water I carry with me at work. They did tell me not to add ice to the protein shake so as not to dilute, but I see those as more of a "meal" and these as getting my water in. I'll look into it. I use myfitnesspal to keep count of my protein, carbs, etc.

As long as you aren't depending on the Protein that you sip all day all is well and good but if you are counting it as part of your minimum that you need for the day I would be check into it. I always add crushed ice in my Protein drink. I'm not sure I could drink it any other way.
myfitnesspal is a good one.
