Just for Fun - Friday
It did clear up here for the afternoon then started again. I'm just hoping for a few hours of no rain each day this next week so I can drive. Last year while we were there, it rained almost non-stop and we certainly never saw the sun.
Hope you and hubby get to the beach since you love it. Shouldn't be too bad a trip if you just head south?

I too love the original and innovative fireworksdisplays you see in Europe ( especxially over bridges and reflected in rivers ) and have great admiration for what I've seen ( only on TV ) in Shanghai harbor, China . Here I'm not so crazy about them as to suffer the crowds but love to pull over from the highway to observe an unexpected display .
I LOVE potato salad and grow my own fresh organic baby potatoes in several colors which are great for the above and also stir fries ...etc. Its ridiculously easy to dig and harvest a huge variety of incredibly tasty and different heirloom potatoes literally 9 months out of the year .
For me potatoes are a staple food since I am largely vegetarian and they are not fattening at all ... because I eat them without fat , just butter buds and seasoning, a fat free sauce like Alfredo or fat free mayonnaise .
Most people don't realize that potatoes contain quite a lot of protein... Irish culture and population basically burgeoned in the eighteenth century because of the almost exclusive eating of the potato.. Between rice and beans and meals based on potatoes .. I only find I need to eat "protein " maybe two or three times a week max . This takes a huge burden off my kidneys and body and also keeps my calories low .
