Make sure and stay hydrated

It is so hot out there, esp in the western half of the country that it is just deadly. So everyone, make sure you stay hydrated. Know the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Unless you exercise in an air conditioned facility, now is NOT the time to be doing anything more than walking outside and that only if you are well hydrated AND have fluids with you.

What I am doing to stay cool...showers with Gold Bond powder afterward.

Watermelon or strawberry ices made with lemonade. (The fruit is frozen)

Staying in the A/C as much as possible.

Any other ways to stay cool?

Gorgeous day here today in Michigan!  78 degrees, mostly sunny with a nice gentle breeze.  Took my son to the airport and on the way back put the top down on the car and enjoyed the day.

I don't have A/C in my house, but last year when it was SO hot all i could do was keep the fans going.  Open the windows and let the cooler air in at night and shut it up during the day.

I'm an "open window" gal - and that's why VA drives me nuts.  It's always so hot and humid there, and even when it's 70 it's so humid you need the A/C on to stay dry. But on the flip side, their winters are milder than MI...

Jody, I understand...Down here it just gets too hot/muggy/stuffy to sleep even with the windows open and fans going.

I liked MI in the summer (okay except early June with the May Flies) but I also was in serious need of spring that arrived before June.

I LOVE open windows but just like the cold, it can be too hot for that too. :)

I've been drinking more than eating, esp. today.  Yesterday I got in the pool at the farm I was staying at but it felt like a big tub except now by your feet were the water was a little cooler.  Not drinking after eating makes it harder to get the fluids in so I am mostly drinking.

Price, I understand. When it's this hot and muggy, food isn't interesting.

I need a pool to play in (just don't want the upkeep).

It got up to 112 where I live today. Just trying to keep up the fluids, had salad for dinner. Crock pot stew set up for dinner tomorrow because I don't want to use the stove. Of course, I could go fry an egg on the sidewalk (LOL).

Linda, stay safe...

I HEARD a report that on Sat the sidewalks in Vegas reached a temp of over 150 degrees. (not the air temp). How true that report was, who knows.

We are in a new home and the yard work is never ending.  It's been neglected.  If I stand up and feel dizzy, I know I am getting dehydrated.  It's too easy to do.  Sip, sip sip with lots of breaks in the air conditioning.

Thansk for the reminder.   I needed it.
