"Do I really need WLS?"
I was 61 and I KNEW I needed WLS. I had tried everything else and wanted my life back. I am only sorry I didn't do it sooner. You have to make your own decisions but it was exactly what I needed.

Listen to Roz. It's not just about "health" in the sense of having diseases but also about health in the sense of QUALITY OF LIFE. We tell ourselves that we aren't letting our weight get in the way of living. Then you lose 70-100 pounds and WOW you can suddenly do all this stuff and you realize, OMG, my weight was totally impacting my life every minute of every day.
As for restaurants, I eat out all the time.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Before working in the school this last year, I had no idea how much my weight had affected things that I used to be able to do without thinking about them. It's the little things that have been piling up that I can't wait to do like I used to.
At 210 pounds and 5 foot 8 and 1/2 inches I had the sleeve surgery. I was self pay and went to Mexicali.
Best thing I ever did.
I am 131 pounds, and a size 2 or 4. I am busy, healthy, active and unstoppable. I am no longer obsessed with food.
Do what you need to do for you. Don't listen to anyone else. If that means canceling surgery, then okay. But make up your own mind.

March 10, 2013 there was an article on the home page called "Do I Really Need Surgery to Loose Weight?"by Nikki Massie. I even put it on my Favorites site so I would read it every time I checked in to OH. It has helped me so much to stay on track especially before surgery. It also gave me quotes to say when someone would ask "why". My surgery was May 7 and I don't regret it.
