Endoscopy results
I had some issues with foamies and slimies when I was on vacation, which prompted an appointment with my pcp. I was away from my usual routine and foods and I tried some things that obviously didn't agree with me. One attack lasted 3.5 hours. I need to be more careful of certain things. The endoscopy showed a hiatal hernia, slowed gastric motility (common with partial gastrectomies), and a loosened lower esophageal sphincter. The loose sphincter allows more reflux, so I don't have any protection. Fortunately, no ulcers are present, no esophageal erosion is present, and there are no strictures present. My PPI has been increased to twice per day, but since there is a mechanical issue present, I'm not sure this will help very much. Since I am back to my usual foods and routine, my symptoms are under control. I have to be extra careful to eat small, frequent meals and to eat slowly. I'm glad that I saw my pcp. There are real reasons for my symptoms that go beyond eating too much or too fast. Where do we go from here? I'm not sure, but my 3 year follow up with Bariatrics will be in August. gail

Not happy it happened but glad you know how to deal with it for now. It will be interesting to see what your surgeon says. Seems like they always want a reason to get back in us to fix something. Hopefully between now and then, the extra meds will help some.

My pcp isn't suggesting surgery, but rather an increase in the ppi and he prescribed a medication to help with the extra secretions when they occur. I am going to focus on making some changes in foods, decrease my caffeine intake, and to try a few homeopathic or natural remedies. Eating different foods while on vacation really set me off. Stuff can happen this far out .
