RNY on 07/16/13

Hi and welcome,

I wasn't allowed by insurance to do both at once, but I had my lapband out last January and am scheduled for my RNY July 16th.  I am 5'3" and currently 233lbs (15lbs of which I gained since having band out).  We might be in fairly similar boats soon.

I had a revision nearly 3 years ago at 220 lbs.  I was a little over 240 lbs in 2002 when I had my first WLS so in the end I was down a whopping 20 lbs, which is kind of pathetic except I consider it not a total failure because before WLS I was gaining weight at an alarming rate.  To have actually weighed less after 8 years is kind of a success for me since that never happened to me before but of course even in the WLS world less then 50% of excess weight loss in considered a failure.  I don't know that I will ever consider myself a success because I have seen people maintain their weight loss for years before regaining so I guess I just stay on my toes and take it one day at a time.  But I do have to say that I have not been obese or even overweight in over 2 years, again a record for me, so I am already ahead of the game.

WLS 10/28/2002 Revision 7/23/2010

High Weight  (2002) 240 Revision Weight (2010) 220 Current Weight 115.
