A constant reminder...
...the scale doesn't show you what you want to see, instead it shows you what is. In fact, it doesn't even show what you think you've earned. Regardless, don't lose hope - push on!!!
This became a reminder this morning when I got on the scale and saw 184. Last week I bounced between 181 and 182, and I could taste the 170s. Managing my frustration with the knowledge that the handful of doritos I had last night did not make me gain 2 pounds and that it'll be back down by Wednesday I'm sure. Also reminding myself of how far I've come and all the inconsistent numbers I've weathered.
More importantly - last week I could taste the 170s!!! It wasn't that long ago that I was announcing breaking into the 180s. I couldn't be more pleased.
Happy Monday
RNY 8/27/09 SW: 250 LW: 170 CW: 175 On the right path again!!!
35 pounds of regain!!! 30 lost!!! Just a little more to go.
Oh Lauren... Chips are a trigger food for me. I MUST AT ALL COSTS STAY AWAY. It is so hard to do that when they are in your face. To just not eat a handful for me, takes every ounce of will power I have. Granted it is a lot easier since surgery, but the head telling the taste buds how much they are missing out doesn't help me at all. I literally get mad at myself for just entertaining the thought of "just a taste"... so instead of giving in, I stomp off and do some cleaning. There is always cleaning that needs to be done.
I hope you find what works for you and great job on your loss so far.

I still battle internally with "I'm not going to live on a diet" and "cheating" mentality. I allow myself chips and deserts from time to time but I know I will pay for it the next day on the scale. How can so little make the scale go up several pounds? then it takes a week to get it back down?
I basically like how I am eating and don't feel deprived but when I do splurge, I know I will pay for it. At least since RNY, I can get it back off instead of adding one gain on top of another.
