Got my date!

It's July 16th - a little later than I'd hoped, but I guess it will work.  The nutrition appointment is on July 2nd - and that's when I start the pre-op diet.  Did any of you do a lot of "last supper" before your pre-op diet?  I know I did last time, and also I did a bit when I made the decision to do this and knew I wouldn't be able to eat certain things.  But eventually I got tired of that and have gone back to my relatively healthy eating (i.e., I eat lots of veggies, fruit and protein, not too much of bad carbs - almost never fried food - just way too big portions).

So, with a definite date I'm saying good bye to wine on the weekends and having one last birthday cake!

Now I have to figure out how to do the whole profile and signature thing!

Cheers!

Christine

Congratulations Christine!!

There are lots of vets on here, with many different surgery types. Be sure to let us know how you are doing. Oh, and I learned a lot from my fellow newbies on here right after surgery.

Good luck

My last suppers went on a while and before I knew it, it was pre-op. Uh-oh. But the good news is I am 11 days post op and have lost 27 pounds since the start of my pre-op on May 20th!

My preop diet was 4 weeks.  It was 5 optifast shakes a day and one small food meal.  So although I did eat some stuff before that, during the preop I had the fruit I wanted and the meats, just no carbs.  but luckily, I wasn't big on starchy carbs anyway.

Start now decarbing and decaffing.  do the caffiene slowly so you don't get headaches. Get rid of sodas and stop drinking with your meals.  You will be ready.

Thanks.  I switched to decaf two weeks ago and stopped sodas.  I'm trying to stop drinking with meals, that one is harder, but I'm working on it.

My DD's wanted to take me out for my Last Supper to the place of my choice and I chose McDonalds...LOL   I thought I was never going to have it again which is definitely not true.

The one thing I didn't get to do and still regret is having a huge piece of chocolate cake from Max and Errmas and sharing it with my DD's.  We just all couldn't get together long enough to drive the distant to the restaurant.  I could still have a few bites of the cake but it wouldn't be the same because I at 4.5 years out I still have the fear of dumping which takes the pleasure of enjoyment out of it.

Enjoy at least a few last suppers!
