Revision and a lightweight
How many of you lightweights and or revision people have reached their goal weights. I am finally at 51 lbs lost @ 4.5 months post op. I am a slow loser and a previous revision, I want to get down to a bmi of 25% which will take me to a weight of 126 lbs. I have about 55 lbs to go and i am starting to slow down. I think i may be heading towards a stall. Just wanted some reinforcement. Looking for some encouraging words. :)
My hair is now falling out in the droves. I guess some people said the hair loss slowed around 9 months, I hope i still have some hair left. haha Any comments regarding hair loss is appreciated also,
Thanks for any forthcoming encouragements.
Michelle
Hi Katiekat,
I had a RNY. i am eating a lot of chilie, i just recently have been able to eat 1/2 of a small steak, filet mignon, if it is done medium rare. I am doing ok with my water and vitamins. I am not unhappy with my weight loss but i am sometimes anxious if i will lose all of the weight. I was just looking for some good success stories and some re enforcement. :) thank you for responding.
The one thing i am not doing enough of is exercising. I know that maybe i really need to pump it up. My weight loss will probably pick up if i become more consistent.
Thanks again,
Michelle
It sounds like you have a great attitude and a respectable fear...but don't worry!! If you stick to the rules, you'll lose most of your excess weight. You may just be on a slower but steadier course. In my opinion, however, if you want to reach your true goal weight, it'll take a little extra shove- big true for all, but most.
If you are not exercising, I recommend doing it by about six months. It'll keep your metabolism up, but more importantly, it'll make you look healthy instead of just skinny when you approach your goal. If you don't do anything, it s a great time of year to start walking. In the mean time, start looking at more challenges for your future- Zumba, swimming, biking, Crossfit- sky is the limit!
Hi Michele! You and I are the same height - I started at 208 when I had my surgery. I hit my goal of 125 at about 9 months.
I've heard though that revisions can lose slower. I'm not sure why, but I'm sure someone here can chime in why.
Stick to the plan, DO start exercising, make good choices and you are doing great. Just think - you are averaging more than 10 lbs a month - which is really awesome!! So really, you're NOT a slower loser.
Look at the percentage of weight you've lost too. That helps keep things in perspective.
My hair didn't start falling out until I was about 6 months out... but it did. I didn't do anything about it - but keep the protein high (you drinking shakes?) It may/may not affect it falling out, but when it grows back in it will be nice and healthy.

If you have lost 51lbs in 4.5 months, you are doing great. That's not so slow for a lightweight because we have to look at % of excess weight, not overall pounds. I started slowing down at 5 months and found that if I kept my carbs low, I kept losing steadily even if it was slow.
My hair started fallling out late, but it did fall out. I started bioten before surgery and it didn't help. Only positive is that it came back in curly. I haven't had curls in 61 yrs and do now but I still don't have much hair.
