11 days post op doing great except for......
I have a terrible pain in my lower side between belly button and large incision. When I am sitting or laying no pain. Trying to get up or go down, horrible shooting zinger. Dr thought possible muscle, but it is getting worse not better. I am eating pureed foods, doing very well. Loose stools, not concerning. I often refer to the pain as a "stitch" in my side, like after running or waking fast. After standing I am hunched over for a few seconds to allow the pain time to subside. It is definitely brought on by movement. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
I'm glad you're doing well except for the stitch issue. It could be normal healing from the inside out but it could be anything from torn muscle, to hernia to adhesions. Definitely keep you surgeon informed if there is any change for the worse. I hope this resolves quickly.

No real idea but like Gina said, keep your surgeon informed. I think as long as stuff in moving through you are talking muscle or adhesion and from my knee replacement, I can tell you adhesions are unbelievable painful.
Hopefully it resolves soon. Stay in touch.

Early on I would get gas caught in certain locations, and it was so painful it took my breath away. As long as I was resting, it didn't bother me. But if I rolled over or tried to get up - it hit. Maybe it's just trapped gas? It felt like a stitch in my side also. A horrible stitch... with an industrial sewing machine...
My surgeon said to take Gas-X. And that never really helped me get rid of it. Mylanta, which causes a clean out, helped get rid of it.
Try the Gas-X and see if it helps. It can't do any harm.
