Hi.  I'm Lin. I'll be 61 this year and  had my RNY 4 years ago.  I'm up about 8lbs from my lowest.  I'm always trying to lose those lbs, but may not. I'm between a size 2 and 4 so am ok with my weight.

I've been running for a couple years now and did my first Women's 1/2 marathon last November. I just signed up for this year. I probably eat more healthy carbs than others because I run and feel I need the carbs for fuel.  I try to hold my fruit to two per day and add wild  rice and legumes to my meals quite often.   I golf most  Saturdays and have taken up hiking with some of my golf buddies.  I like to knit and read but don't find much time for that lately.

I live in AZ and my husband lives in WI, so I have a trip planned every month through September. Then he starts coming out here once a month. Hopefully, he will retire in two years and then we'll only be apart in the summer until I retire. I have grandbabies in WI--3 months and 3 years, so I really can't wait to see them when I visit.

This board has been a great support for me.  I encourage all to come here as often as they can.

most of us would be thrilled to be 8 lbs from our lowest.  You have done a great job of keeping on keeping on with what works for you.

I loved running, my hips and knees didn't.  Glad it is working for you.

Hey All...  My name is Lucy and I am 51 years young.  I had my RNY surgery just last Jan. 14th.  I have lost a total of 80 lbs; 70 since surgery.  I am very excited about my new body.  My life is so full with day to day stuff I haven't yet found time to work exercise into my routine... but I won't give up on figuring that part out.  I follow all the WLS rules and consider myself a success.  This is the best thing I have ever done for myself.

Thank you all so much for being here for me.

~~ Lucy

Oh, cool! I miss your Friday, Just for Fun posts.

I'm Gina and live near Wash, DC. Let's see...retired Lieutenant Colonel with over 30 years of service, 57 years old, 2 grown sons and 2 grandbabies, 1 hubby and 1 shih tzu. I had the duodenal switch (DS) Aug 2007, which will put me at 6 years post-op this summer.

This summer hubby and I will go to our usual vacation spot and I've already warned him I intend to drive the golf cart every day. I hope to do my daily walks at work this summer and maintain my current 22.5 BMI.  No plans to ever run again. Gave all my cartilage to Uncle Sam.

My name is Jennifer and I am almost 27 months post RNY.  I am 41, love living in the mountains, and am a social worker and coordinate a hospice and palliative care program.  I am loving the early summer weather and have flowers throughout my little yard.  I am struggling with maintenance especially due to some pretty significant fatigue associated with anemia.  Working on that issue now and REALLY hope to be back to an exercise routine soon.  I do not like exercise but do it.  Often walk 2 miles at my lunch break (did today!) but my body seems to need more exercise than that to maintain (ran my 1st 5K last year!).  Feel VERY blessed for what I have achieved with weight loss surgery.  Still don't know if I dump which I would never have though I could accomplish at 2 years out (which makes fighting re-gain even MORE frustrating).

Heading to the beach for a few days next week.  Went on my first cruise last year and another in Jan of this year.  Things I would have avoided pre-surgery.  Love to travel and have a trip to Europe planned this fall.

Blessings...

Hi Jennifer,

My husband  and I volunteer with Hospice here as visitors.  It is such a wonderful program.  We used it with my DH's step father.  He lived with us until he passed away.  He had pancreatic cancer and I don't think we could have cared for him if we had not had the help of Hospice.  When I retire I hope to volunteer in the office also.

Hope they can get your anemia under control.

Linda

Linda,

I am glad that hospice was able to help you when caring for your step-father-in-law.  I am always amazed that a service that helps in the worst of times can be looked at in such a kind, helpful way (that is the goal).  I feel very blessed to do this work every day and really love what I do (although it is is challenging at times adminstratively).  Thankfully most of my work is at the bedside meeting with patients and families.

@Price....thanks for the kind words about the anemia.   I am working on it!!  As far as avoiding the junk, I REALLY wish the scale reflected that.  lol.

So sorry you are going through the anemia and hope you get it resolved before summer sneaks away.  You have done so well staying away from all the "bad stuff", I am in awe.  get your anemia resolved before Europe so you can do all the walking you will need to do and still feel good.
