Friday, just for fun
We have some new members so maybe it is time for a fun post before the weekend.
First, introduce yourself
Price, I had surgery, RNY almost 3 yrs ago now and am learning how difficult maintaining is. I do high protein and low carb and have found exercise to be a new passion. I am 64 and haven't been healthier in 25 yrs. All co-morbidities are gone.
Next, what are you doing to make the most of this summer, where ever you are in your WLS journey.
I grow 90% of my veggies in the summer. I spend lots of time riding and driving my ponies and get to exercise classes whenever possible, usually muscle pump 2x a week and zumba 1x. The heat doesn't bother me like it used to and I love being outside.

My name is Anne
I had my VSG in January at Cleveland Clinic, I live in Northwest PA
I have lost a total of 75 lbs, (20 Pre-op) I am still definitely in the learning phase of my journey. I am trying to take the best of what my nut says and combine with what I have learned through the boards. I try to bet 70 to 80 Gms protein and under 75 carbs. My carbs are fruits, vegetables and dairy and the occasion bean or whole grain.
I am ;planning to start going through THE BECK DIET SOLUTION, starting this weekend, to work on my head issues.
I'm a home health nurse.
I have 3 girls, the youngest is graduating from HS next week, and an adorable three year old grandson who lives with us.
My husband has lost so much weight since I had the surgery he needs to buy all new clothes.
I love to garden, read, listen to audioobooks. I am learning to love the gym
My sleeve is one of the best decisions I ever made.
I plan to bike and walk as much as I can this summer
Anne

Hi Price - yes, you're right - we have a lot of new folks here!
I'm Jody. I had RNY 4.5 years ago. I am fighting with some regain, but have tried to stay active and check in on the board when i can. I live in both VA and MI due to the work situation. I'm 54, single, 2 kids, 2 adorable grandchildren.
Summer... I hope to be in Michigan as much as I can, as summers are pretty short there, but wherever I am, I plan on being on a motorcycle, or when in MI spending time with my grandchildren and working on my house/yard.
I need to find an exercise routine I like, and stick to it!

I do think the key to exercise is finding something you WANT to do. I used to love running but my body didn't. I love these classes, esp the muscle pump. I work hard to make sure my schedule allows me to go.

Very true, Price..
I'm Liz, almost 59, surgery was 28 months ago, had the DS and am now well into maint. I've had some bounceback but trying to get rid of it thru more protein and less carbs.
Exercise is mostly limited to walking. That and renovating a bathroom we tore apart when we thought we would stay here. Now we just need it back together. We will be moving in August. Closing on the house is the end of July.
All my co-morbids are gone...and haven't been healthier in over 30 years. What issues I have now are not related to surgery...in fact, surgery probably delayed some of them (will be having back surgery after we move at some point.)
Heat doesn't bother me, cold does...but being outside in the summer is an exercise in torture cause mosquitos LOVE me.

bounceback is a B*#+#. Let me know when you get to my area. You can go on a carriage ride with me.

Looking forward to it...
We should (and that's assuming the closing goes as planned) be there the first week of Aug to clean carpets, cabinets, etc. Then come back here...and move sometime that week or early the next. After we get moved...we will come back here to clean and then we will be officially moved.

I love what you have all written so far. Let me give it a try...
Lauren B, I had surgery almost 4 years ago. In that time I lost 80 pounds, and then regained 35 pounds, and then got my act together for good and lost 20 pounds this last year. I'm hoping to get back to my lowest post surgery weight of 170. I'm pretty hot at that weight. It'll be fun too because my boyfriend has only seen me at my current weight of 185ish. I am 34 and originally from NY (Long Island). I moved to Denver last summer and am STILL looking for a job.
I struggle with bipolar disorder. It has interfered in many ways of my life, one of which is my weight. I take a bunch of meds to keep me healthy, but they don't agree with my weight loss plans. So I try harder.
I am divorced with no kids (what I"d do with a kid, I don't know). As I mentioned I am in a relationship for almost a year with a great guy I met in the first month I got to Denver. Yay me!!!
This summer I'll be continuing to job hunt until the right opportunity emerges. I'll be spending mornings at the gym and weekends with my guy. Thinking concerts, visiting the great parks here, the zoo, museums when it rains, not sure what else.
If you struggle with a mental disorder or take meds that make it difficult to lose, please feel free to message me.
Happy Friday

When I was reading your post I realized you are the same age as my daughter. Wow. I just never caught that before. Hope you have luck with the job search.
Glad you are enjoying the gym.
