No longer loosing my mind
Well I had a terrible time after surgery. No pain, don't get me wrong, but lots of messed up head issues. I was only home for three or four days and I started eating crackers. After a day or two I told my doctor and he said to be very careful to eat one cracker that was it because I was SOOOOO nauseated. Nothing was working for the sickness I was feeling but I way over did the crackers. I was eating like 10-15 a day. The following Thursday I went to see the doctor, which was also my third day of no weight loss, and told him while in tears, everything that was going on. My doctor was incredible. He told me that I shouldn't be eating like that cuz I could hurt my sleeve. He told me he was sending me to the NUT after our appointment and that I was doing incredible in terms of weight loss. Being a light weight I had already lost 10% of my excess body weight in 10 days. He told me he figures I will loose approximately 50-60 lbs more by six months and then the rest in the following six months to a year. He told me that I would have ups and downs and that it was more like a roller coaster instead of a slide that goes straight down. That put it into perspective. I went to see the NUT next. She was just as nice as the doctor and told me that it was ok to start my soft food stage but to STOP the crackers. SHe gave me a whole list of all the foods I can have and it's almost everything I ate pre op minus the junk food and steaks lol. Soooo I'm no longer loosing my mind. I never regretted the surgery. I just regretted that I was so weak. I wasn't prepared for the head hunger. So I just thought I would let you guys know what is going on with me. I am now 12 days out and 12% down and a smile on my face.
Good for you. Hang on tight, it's quite a ride. : )

Hi Neighbor!! Maybe we can meet up sometime. It's rare for someone from my area to post on here. I actually just heard about a good clothing store in your mall but the name of it is gone for the moment.
Emotions and fear of not succeeding are normal right after surgery. It sounds like you are doing great now!! Sometimes a few kind words of encouragement and some direction from your Surgeon's office is all it takes. It also sounds like you have a good support system set up. My surgeon left the practice right after I had surgery and the whole office staff has changed so I just go to my PCP now.
Were you on Prilosec or something similar before surgery. My surgeon put me back on mine right after surgery because of the hunger pains and rumbling in my stomach. At 4.5 years out I can tell the difference if I miss taking it a few days.
The LW's are top notch at supporting and answering questions and I owe most of my success to them so it really helps to keep posting.

Hi Roz,
Getting together would be fun. I haven't really shopped in the mall because I hate shopping right now at this weight but look forward to a future where I can go into a store with my head held high.
I am on prilosec, well I was.. now I'm on nexium. I hope it works a little better because the prilosec wasn't getting rid of my acid. I am doing so much better now that I'm on soft foods. I'm still hungry between meals but not like before and I'm not getting more calories than I should. My nut said 600 or less so I'm doing good.

the first days are hard for lots of folks. My Drs had said ahead of time to if we had nausea because they could give us meds. I didn't need it but lots of folks do so you weren't abnormal. Glad you have stuff you can eat now and are doing ok. Yeah, they operate on our tummys, not our brains and the head issues can be much harder to deal with. You just had major surgery and it will take you a while to feel yourself and have some energy. Meanwhile, sip, walk, rest. Each day will get a little better.
