4 Days Post Op
I totally remember that feeling. Everything bu****er tasted like it had too much flavor. think of it as a blessing. You do need protein but I can't promise any of it will taste very good. You also need to stick to your plan and eat (we weren't eating for a while) or drink things that are on your approved list. We could have clear protein or vanilla for the first week. Or Unjury chicken soup protein. That was pretty tasty early out when I wasn't much into the sweet stuff. I couldn't manage the ispoure clears, yuck. I did herbal teas with vanilla or unflavored protein, decaf coffee with vanilla protein as creamer. Try for protein every 2 hours, sip on a cup. I think we were aiming for 60g of protein for the first few weeks, and worked our way up. Our next phase included strained creamed soups that I added unflavored protein to, yogurt, etc. I was totally uninterested in food for weeks but ate on schedule according to my plan. Hang in there, you can do this.

Congratulations by the way.
I remember being miserable because all the protein stuff grossed me out. The only thing I could handle was vanilla protein with a teaspoon of instant coffee blended with ice and water of course. Then my mom had a brilliant idea - get some Chinese won ton soup and strain out the insides. It was way better than having the Unjury chicken soup in my opinion. I never lost my taste for sweets, so I did sf jello. I definitely struggled with protein the first few days and thought I'd waste away. Luckily I had 100 pounds of fat to lean on :)

35 pounds of regain!!! 30 lost!!! Just a little more to go.
This is normal although not fun!!
I started hating my protein drinks....things that helped was ready to drink shakes (tasted so much better to me) as well as protein coffee. Another that tasted great was ramen broth (no real protein but it tasted good and was added fluid). Also, regular water did not sit well so I had to drink it at room temperature and add something to it. Just keep trying different things until something works. Many people think things are too sweet and I really did not enjoy savory like the broth. Post if you need help!!

First before I continue answering your post.....if you could put your type of surgery and the date in your profile that is really helpful for us.
EVERYTHING tasted extremely sweet, sour, spicy, etc. It was awful....BUT.....you have to do it!!! I bought unflavored protein and I put it in everything! SF Jello, SF puddings, soups, drinks, broth, yogurt, etc. The only flavorings that I could handle was mango and peach. South Beach brand was the mildest but I have been able to find that. Now I use the MIO flavorings because I can control the number of drops I put in it.
Good Luck! We are here if you need us!!!!
