Meetings this morning then some retail therapy. I went to the Dillard outlet and got some really good deals, new stuff that is at Thrift store prices. There were some things I couldn't bring myself to buy even though they were 65% off then 50% off and still way too expensive for me.
No plans for the weekend. the guys will play golf and I will ride/drive the ponies but that's about it. going to ride Poppy.

Hi there--can I ask you guys something? I see you all today so far are RNY -ers, is it normal for you to use a lot of protein drinks, etc. this far out from surgery? My wife had RNY, so I was just interested. Our nutritionist pushes for us to eat solid food, so I'm just wondering if others' food plans/nutritionists prescribe continuing with protein drinks/powders/ingredients for maintenance?
Thanks!
Ginger
I think we have everything but bands that will post so keep looking. We have quite a few sleevers and DS also.
Some of us find that the protein drinks keep our protein level up and keep us away from more carby, calorie foods. I seem to need about 150g a day to keep my protein level up and would have a hard time eating that much. I eat protein first and non-starchy carbs but still couldn't get that much very easily.
I was lucky, my Dr didn't push us to give them up if they were working for us. He also believes in keeping multi small meals where some say no snacking, 3 squares and that is it.
I am a rule follower and did follow the rules early out. However, I think at some point, once you are out a ways from surgery, you have to see what will work long term for you. It isn't about just losing the weight, it is about keeping it off.

My nutritionist is fine with some protein drinks if we need to continue them, but i have chosen to try to get my protein from food, with protein drinks as a backup if I have a low protein day. She is happy if my protein is over 60 but i am for 70 to 80. I eat 5 x a day with protein at each snack. I am not in maintenance yet, but will continue with the 5 protein based meals till I can get all my protein in in 3, then I would like to have 3 protein meals and 2 fruit or veggie snacks.

me too. i feel like I have been eating nonstop since I got home. I've tried to stick to ok stuff but it is still food. I know it sounds weird but when I have lost a pound, sometimes I get really hungry. Like my body wants to put it back. Of course, it could be all in my head but it seems like it has happened many times during this journey.
