4 days down, 11 to go!
I am excited but scared. Will I be able to do this? Just one more attempt that didn't work? Is this tool strong enough to enable me to change 53 years of an unhealthy lifestyle? Did any one feel like the surgery was their last chance? I SO want to do what you all do. I know that it won't be easy, but I have to save my own life.
I felt like it was my last shot at getting my life back, and it worked. Yes, I worked it, but it worked too. I am a rule follower and I did everything I was told to do. Every diet phase, every sip and pencil eraser sized bit, weighed and measured everything. If you follow the rules, and don't have a crazy Nut, you can't help but lose the weight. Promise.
Keeping it off is the hard part but at least you have a fighting chance. You can do this.

I'm so excited for you!! I was 55 when I had my surgery and my only regret is not having it done when I was younger. But even at our age it is an exciting change.

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

Yes... I found that my health was going to be going down the tubes real quick if I didn't do something...
I was 49 when I had mine, 54 now. I also followed the rules to a "T" during the first 2-3 years. As life gets back to "normal" I tended to relax a bit... and have realized some weight regain. It is what you make of it!
Congratulations and it's normal to be questioning it. This will be the best thing you've done for yourself!

You will be able to do this. It is not always easy. The further out you get the harder it gets. Be sure to take advantage of the early stages and do what you are suppose to do. Make the changes while it is easier and they are more likely to become a habit. Bad habits are VERY easy to slip back into so you have to work at this just like everything else.
I was almost 55 when I had the surgery. It was the right time for me. I had lived a very unhealthy life. I did exercise but my eating was horrible. I knew this was my last chance. I followed all the rules my NUT gave me except the Protein Drinks. They don't want you doing them, but that is what works for me. I think you get to a point that you have to find your own way. I don't think it is a one way works for everyone. I like the small meals and snacks. Some want to do the 3 meals a day and no snacks. In the beginning you need to follow your plan(unless it is really crazy).
Good luck!!

I was 62 when I had mine done. It felt like I had to save myself everything else I failed. Would I fail at this also...not if I can help it. "Darling hubby" keeps bringing in the sweet treats and he doesn't hide them like he should, that was our agreement, he said now is the time for him to get healthy..he isn't, anyway back to you. Don't compare yourself to anybody but you. Some lose faster and some like me are slow but I have always been slow ...so that not new to me being slow and I don't have that much to lose. I am focusing on getting into smaller cute clothes and able to do more...like cross my legs that is how I measure myself not with the scale. Best wishes as you start your new journey in your life.
Give this a try - every time you start to question your decision, say to yourself or aloud, "This will work out for me". Keep saying it, the instant you have a negative thought. Always works for me.
