Mind Over Mood

So, I'm reading this book/workbook entitled Mind Over Mood for anxiety that I suffer from. I was thinking this morning that it should be titled Mind Over Food instead. It guides you through your thoughts and helps you change your thoughts about just about everything, so why not food?

If you want more info, let me know!! Just an idea for helping that mind that didn't have surgery.

Sounds good.  A lot of this is mental.  I just started an old Tony Robbins course, Get The Edge (got it from Amazon Market Place).  I still wish they'd develop brain surgery to help with WLS though!! :-D

Keep us posted on how you do.

The mental aspect of this is HUGE.  I never realized prior to the surgery how much of my weight issue was emotional not physical.   Does that make sense to anyone other than me LOL

Absolutely. Every decision about food I make is emotionally driven. Is this what you really want? Why should you have to eat this when what you really want is...? If you weren't fat you could have what you want!

This book is teaching me to essentially stop and recognize my thoughts as I'm having them. Then challenge the validity of the thought. There are all types of techniques. I like it because it's real tools, not just a book of endless text.

Will have to check this out.  Two books that have helped me are 50 ways to soothe yourself without food and the Beck Diet Solution (not a diet book...cognitive therapy related to food and emotions).  Hard to stick with it.   The head stuff IS the hardest.

Please post if there are some things that have REALLY worked for you.  Distraction when I have an urge to eat and am not hungry helps me sometimes.  Hard to no give in though...
