Drinking before, during, and after a meal?
I'm a bad, bad, bad RNY patient. I don't follow the rules around drinking and eating. In fact, I never followed this rule.
Given my commitment to lose my bounce back weight (if you can call it that), I'm re-exploring all the rules. But I nothing without research. So my questions are:
1. Do you stop drinking before,during, and after, or some variation?
2. How long do you wait?
3. What difference do you feel like it makes for you?
4. Is this just an RNY thing?

I don't drink anything with my meals. I don't really stop drinking 30 min before, but I will drink less when I know my meal is coming up....if that makes sense:) I always wait at least 30 min after the meal before I drink anything, so I don't wash everything I just ate down right away and making me hungry sooner. I think this is a rule with the sleeve as well.
1. I try to wait atleast 15 to 30 minutes before eating, so I can fill up on protein. If I dont, I get full too fast, then hungry too soon.
2. I wait 30 to 60 minutes after eating, if I do any sooner, I seem to feel hungry too soon.
3.I think it really helps me focus on feeling full and stops me from grazing.
4. I am not sure if its just a rny rule.

My program says you only have to wait 0-15 min before and everything I've read corroborates that. Liquid runs right through you pretty much so now that I'm farther out and not swollen, it doesn't back up and I am empty by the time i put down my drink and go get my meal.
I wait 30-60 min. after. I'm supposed to wait 45-60 min. after but sometimes I get impatient. Sometimes I don't wait at all if I'm super thirsty and I am behind in my drinking. But I try to limit those times.
I get hungrier sooner if I start drinking too soon after a meal. I can eat more if I drink during a meal except sometimes, if I drink after I fill up on hard protein, there's not room and the water backs up and it hurts. Or the water makes everything expand and that hurts too.
I have a sleeve so I guess it's not just an RnY thing.

I drink up to a meal or snack, then wait 30-60 minutes after depending on how thirsty i am. I try for 60 if it was a meal, more like 30 for a snack. I think it helps keep you full longer.
