DD#3 has shingles

Please Pray or swing something for my DD.

Although the rest of us came home on Tuesday DD#3 and her two boys (age 1 and 5) stayed in FL because she has 2 more teams competing this weekend.  She had a headache and her ears hurt all last week and then last night she started getting lumps on the side of her neck and under her ear.

Med Express says she has shingles.  They said she caught it early so hopefully the antibiotics will clear it up fast.  They gave her pain medication but so far it isn't helping.

She is scared to death and called me crying.  Although she has a lot of Cheer Mom's with her this is the first time she has ever been on a trip with the boys alone which is stressful enough.

Oh no Roz,

That's terrible news. Prayers to you both. She'll need a calm supportive ear.

Prayers going out to her.

Poor thing, shingles are so painful. Glad it was caught early. Hope the other cheer moms pick up the slack for her.

Praying for her. The rest of you should ensure you get vaccinated against this.

Shingles can be very painful.  If you are over 60 you might want to consider getting vaccinated.  One of the women on our golf league had them in her vocal cords.  She had surgery and had to speak with a microphone for a while.  Her last surgery has her speaking without.  It can be pretty bad if it affects your eyes too.

Wishing her a speedy recovery.

Praying for her Roz.  My DH and my dad have both had this and it is very painful.  They both had a bad rash with their's.

Hope the pain meds kick in to help her feel better.

She called me this morning all upset.  They gave her Percocet and she is still in a lot of pain.  My niece and the cheer moms are helping her with the boys but Sat/Sun is the competition and they can't help her with that.  She doesn't come home from FL until Monday.

Ive had shingles a few times and never had lumps or a headache.  antibiotics don't do a thing.  Anti viral, like meds for herpies, is what works.  Shingles is from the chicken pox virus.  If you have had chicken pox, you have shingles in your body, waiting for it to come out.  the anti virals do work but it will list linger and be a pain for weeks, usually.  Maybe it isn't shingles.  Seems strange that she doesn't have a very painful rash and that they gave her antibiotics not antivirals.

Whatever it is, I hope she is getting better as we speak.
