Good news....a potential medication fix
I know I've mentioned it a number of times on here. I take a number of prescription medications. One of which is notoriously linked to significant weight gain. So much so, that my doc has said I would have surely gained had I not been managing my diet so tightly.
ANYWAY...we think we've found a viable replacement. That means all the work I am putting into losing weight might actually take effect. I now realize that my bounce back of 20-30lbs post surgery was from all these crazy meds (literally, I'm bipolar)
Sooooo excited to see results. PLEEEEEASE keep your fingers crossed that I can get back on the losing track. To celebrate I'm going to have a protein shake and go to the gym!!
For my fellow psych patients, we think the culprit is Zyprexa. The new one I'm trying is Geodon.

Swinging lizards all your hard work will pay off. Good for you and your doc for working with you.

good luck. I sure hope it works for the bipolar and for the weight. I have heard good things about Geodon for lots of folks.
My job is working with a population where mental health drugs are pretty common. Several of them, we have known for a long time, add 10 lbs per mg. So if someone is on 4mg a day, you can expect them to gain 40 lbs. Crazy, huh. But if that is what works for them, in the long run it is usually worth it.
