Good Morning. It's the season for ticks
Just a reminder for those of you that get outside to walk the doggies, jog, cut the grass, take the ponies for a ride, etc., check for ticks often. They are out! We have a lot of deer that come up into the neighborhood but I think ticks are out anyway. DH pulled a tick off himself yesterday, so we checked him over and we treated Newton with tick and flea stuff from the vet. I'm pretty sure DH picked up the tick from walking Newton or from cutting grass this weekend. Just be watchful.

I picked up a tick when I was in Gettysburg and have NO idea where I got it from. I hadn't been in the grass, etc. AND it was on my stomach - how did it get there? I was so weirded out by it...

OK. I jumped on the board this morning to be the first one in the nation at 4:00am to post a comment. Just once. And there you are! At 3am in the morning. Do you make this a habit, or is this just insomnia amongst friends.
Ticks are plentiful where I live, in the redwood forest. With Goldilocks. And Bambi, and his friends. Bambi comes through here in herds, bringing all kinds of pests. I have a huge fence up (otherwise Bambi eats everything I water and fertilize), so I don't have deer bringing ticks to my front door any more. But the coons are thriving, and they come through and deposit ticks and fleas. Love the wild life....
I use Trifexis on my dog, and it works great. Kills fleas, ticks and heart worm. All in one pill. Hhhmmm. Maybe I should try one...
You got to be either super early or up all night to get ahead of this crowd!

We do have them but not as bad as some areas. We may find one a year on one of the dogs or donkeys.
No meetings, hurray. Drive Halley, clean up cart, pack trailer, start thinking about food, etc for camping. Muscle pump this evening. Leaving at 4 tomorrow for the 1st event of the season, 1st one with Halley.

We watch very carefully and treat the dogs with several options...a topical flea/tick with a weekly wash of a flea/tick shampoo AND a flea tick spray that is also a once a week. The shampoo and the spray are both natural and found at an all natural pet supply store.
The mosquitoes are also already out...got bit yesterday on my shin!
