AAARRRGGGG...I hate getting older!

Had my annual physical today...okay some good news and some "bad".

Good news...my total cholesterol has dropped 40 points from last year. It was 183 last April, 143 THIS April.

Bad new, I've shrunk! When I had my WLS, I was 5' 4" and now I am 5' 31/8". That means instead of being a normal BMI at 141 with some to spare, I am pushing 24.999, so close to overweight, it's scary!

That seems like a lot to shrink in a year....

But - you know you're healthy.  I like to refer to the BMI chart too... but it is just a guide.  Don't let it get you down!

Jody, it's been 27 months. I don't remember what it was a year ago.

Totally crazy you posted this! I am now 5'1 ( before spine surgery 5'2) and am still considered obese @ 136.5. I am depressed and stressed over it. I am a very stocky muscular build an according to frame size I am a large frame. I feel I will never get to a normal BMI.  To be safe I need to weigh 130.  I'm a size 5/6 , 34-29-37. Waist to hip ratio said I'm healthy but still fat 😫. It is scary and stressful . I eat below 1200 calories I don't lose I eat over 1200 I lose and feel guilty, sometimes it goes up sometimes I go down. I can't find the weight loss calorie amount.  Eat more eat less! ??? I'm about to pull my hair out!  I understand what you mean, and I need advice what to do! I keep carbs low protein and water high.  I should be happy , but still feel fat. Ugh ok enough rambling happy hump day!

VERY frustrating. I know I am NOT getting enough calories in the form of protein. Doing my best to increase but it's very hard to eat ALL the time. (DS Math says my 1300+ calories is actually 675 and that isn't enough)

I may be facing spine surgery AGAIN. I had a spinal fusion  (L4/L5/S1) back in March 2006. About 6 months or so ago, I started having issues...like the tingling/numbness in my legs. My back spasms, etc. I have an MRI scheduled on May 8th after seeing the PA at the neurosurgeon's office. After the MRI, I see the neurosurgeon. (I was a self referral since I didn't bother my PCP, figured I had issues in the past and my post operative report in my possession).

Oh dear, spinal surgery must suck.  I really hope you can avoid it.  I'm swinging critters for you for a good outcome.

It does and recovery is 12 weeks long. Been this route before and hated it but it worked at the time. Told this neurosurgeon that I would MUCH prefer to avoid surgery.

Right now, we are trying a back brace to give me some relief.

Look like we had the same spinal surgery. Muscle spasms and numbness isn't fun. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. If you need another surgery, I hope not 1 is enough, ask them to put a lift in your spine...wouldn't that be nice. {{{{HUGS HUGS}}}}

What I NEED is a spine stretcher...add about 3 inches to my current height! LOL.

I hope I don't need another one either...told the PA that it is my LAST option.

What is your exercise like? Are you weight training? It helps to mix things up and to shock your body into doing something different.
