OT-Surprises as I mature

I'm still in peri-menopause.  Had my hormones checked and I'm still in that range.  I just turned 54...

But - I've had some hot flashes that would be mild - last for a few weeks, and go away.  I've had night sweats...

Now what I consider a hot flash is when my whole body, including my head is consumed.  Most of the time it only reaches my neck.  I can honestly say it's only been 1-2X I've had a true one.  If this is the way it continues, I'll survive it, but not holding my breath.

I always was cold - even at 220 lbs.  Cold hands, cold feet...

I'm having an awful time with eating.  I know I have to get back on to the plan, but it seems the harder I try, the harder I fall.  Not sure what to do about it....

I know the other day at work, my friend Kelly was looking at me asking if I was okay. I felt hot all over and my scalp was sweating. I guess my face turned beet red.

I have been doing really well with the carbs, the first 3 days are the worst. I went back to an Atkins recommendation to supplement with glutamine. I am taking 2  500mg tablets before meals to help with the cravings. I am thinking about stopping now since the pms is over and my cravings seem more manageable.

Oh the joys of being a woman!

I feel your pain Jody!

Maria....I have never heard of glutamine.....that can help with carb cravings?  I actually do okay with the carbs (most of the time) but I REALLY struggle with hunger....often!  I take prilosec which helps some and drink a lot but I so wish I didnt experience such severe hunger.  Gonna research glutamine....

Glutamine doesn't help with hunger but it seems to help with cravings. I really got into some bad habits with white carbs and it seem to help me get through the first couple weeks by taking the edge off.

I seem to find with hunger, I really had to get back to basics after regaining 26 pounds. Ouch, hard to admit, but it is what it is.

I really need to stick with solid protein and then some vegetables. I wait atleast 45 to 60 minutes after a meal to start drinking. I find things like yogurt, chili that I love, soups, and cottage cheese do not seem to keep me full long enough.
