Short rant

I can hardly stand looking at my pill box. It overwhelms me. Thank god I only need to refill it on Sundays.

In total I take 15 pills in the morning and 6 at night. Those totals are made up of vitamins and prescription medications for one of my many ailments. Fortunately none of my conditions are weight related.

I think I may need to start breaking up the morning dose into two parts. When it was 12 pills, I took them in one shot. Crazy right?

Anyway, I feel grateful that there are medications in this world to take care of me, but wish I could just get one fat shot a week. Hell, I'd take the shot daily.

Rant complete blush

I take 4 pills 4x a day. Plus 1 at bedtime. I don't find 4 pills particularly overwhelming. I have to take pills 4x a day anyway because of the calcium so it all works out.

I take:

Breakfast: 2 calcium, 1 magnesium, 1 B2

Lunch: 1 iron, 1 B2, 1 Evening Primrose, 1 multivitamin

PM Snack: 2 calcium, 1 B2, 1 multivitamin

Dinner: 2 calcium, 1 B2, 1 multivitamin

Bedtime: 1 topamax

I could do the multivitamins all together as 1 serving is 3 capsules but I find my labs are better if I spread them out. And I'm taking 3 doses of calcium and 1 of iron anyway, so why not?

I fill my containers 2 weeks at a time because that is the worse part for me.  Walmart's containers are pretty cheap.

DH fills his 1 time a week and he complains and complains and it drives me crazy!  If he filled them 2 times a month then I would know when he is running out instead of having to run to the pharmacy.  I think I'll start making him go pick up his own pills.....yeah right (but it sounds good).

Hi Roz,

Yeah I fill my container each week. Perhaps a two week container would help, especially to help in seeing what I'm running out of as you said.

I refill mine on Sunday too :)  Gets me ready for the week ahead.  I only take a few at a time and spread it out over the day.

During commute - protein drink with calcium in it

am - multi

mid morning - script & colace with a snack or it upsets my pouch.

lunch time - calcium then after I eat I let the sublingual b12 dissolve (since I cant drink anyway it makes it easier for me)

Mid afternoon - D3 & B complex

During commute home - Celebrate citrus ENS with vitamins & calcium drink

At bedtime - Iron with C

Wow typing it all out makes it seem like a lot!

But at least I finally have it worked into my schedule.

Wow you sound like me. I dont know that I could spread them though. I hate it and couldn't inflict that torture more than twice a day devil

I do about 40 a day but that's coz I'm doing 4000mg of calcium and I take 18 calcium tablets alone.  I've found that I can swallow down 8 or 9 tablets at once if I do it with liquid so it's not such a big deal that way.  I'd recommend starting with a smaller amount though as you don't want to end up gagging on them.

I do 9 batches of pills (we only absorb ~500mg of calcium at a time and I keep my iron and zinc separate from my other vites).

This morning I split my dose for the first time, Seven pills and then 8. Seemed to reduce the chances of gagging. Doing 12 like before was just crazy. And, I had choke on them a few times. Feeling better about splitting.

You're my hero that you can take so many pills in a day.

Yes you don't want to swallow down too many tablets at once - I took 4 Bone Up in one go and they really got stuck.  Vitacost Bone Booster Complex are the exact same size and they never get stuck so I'll have to be careful with the Bone Up.

Liquid iron has made me gag recently - I just hate the taste and it brings up acid when I gag, I get that close to barfing.  I'm hoping to get infusions soon and hopefully this extra reason will convince my doc.
