Good Morning. I was bragging on you guys last night
At our protein tasting last night we were talking about long term success and the pitfalls as you become more "flexible" in your eating. I was bragging about how many of you still drink your protein shakes to help you curb the munchies and that you are still close to your goal weights. You guys are awesome!
The dietitian was happy to hear that the protein shakes are still a great option and that they help us control carby eating as a coping mechanism even several years post-op.
Spread the word and keep up the good work.

glad you are there to keep that group straight and educate another dietitian. I have always thought I was pretty lucky that mine was a believer in multi meals and protein suppliments. I would hate to go to battle with one of those 3 meal a day folks on a regular basis. I guess it works for some folks but certainly wouldn't work for me.
Headed out to a driving clinic this morning. Back Thursday evening, gone again Friday. Busy week.

at 30 days out i am stuck at the same weight for a week. three week stall? thought I had that at 2 weeks out but could be in it still.
I am still having trouble eating enough to get my protein up,and sorta over the choc protein shakes I had. drinking last one of that today and have ordered some nectar natural peach to add to water cause I also can't find any water flavor that i can make myself drink a lot of. So will try that.
also wondering if the dairy is going to be a problem with me even with the malabsorption. pre DS I could only eat lean protein, eggs n very limited greens. Surely with the malabsorption, dairy won't be a problem. Honestly,it feels like I don't even have a DS as far as loss goes. I know better than to be disappointed cause it is a journey. I was just SO hoping that my diet was not going to be SOOOO limited again, but if it has to be it has to be.
Going to start posting on M&M n on the DS board too. I must confess that all the juice, yogurt, jello n popsicles immediately post op has flared my sugar addiction. Haven't been able to have more than one or two totally clean days post op,so could be body holding extra water weight to process the carbs. Gotta get on some kind of tract to trey and see what is happenoing and where i need to tweak.
The protein drinks are what keep me going and I know have played a major role in keeping my weight down.
I'm glad your dietitian agrees with that. I don't even discuss it with mine anymore. I just agree and keep on doing what works for me.
Work today. Got a lot to finish up this week. I can't wait to go to Savannah next week even if it is for work.
Hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

Encouragement from you and the other LW's keep most of us on track!!!
I can't imagine life without my Protein drinks! My Protein cup is a part of me and goes EVERYWHERE with me.
My regular PA agrees with the small meals and Protein drinks but the last time I went I had this girl *****ally criticized it. I thought I have kept all this weight off for 4 years, my labs are good and you are telling me that I shouldn't be drinking the Protein drinks and eating small meals.
Only a couple of my friends who had WLS right before me have kept their weight off. The few that have used to drink the Isopure but I haven't asked them lately. I've got to remember to do that. I know they have way bigger appetites than I do but they are really tall.

Well... I darn well know you weren't talking about ME! It's so strange how I was such a protein drink junky for 3 years... then suddenly I can't stand them. Why's that?
I *almost* had one today. I saw my chocolate protein - and thought about having a hot chocolate protein drink - but didn't. Not sure what it's going to take to get me back on them. The last one I had - I dumped on... so strange...

I think the key to the protein supplements is to mix it up some. Your tastes do change with the changes that we have done to our bodies, and you just want to gag on the same old stuff. I ordered some click samples and isopure today, because I know that the protein is what is going to carry me through all this, forever. I don't think most of us can eat enough protein to get it in daily.
