Gina and Liz
Where did you keep your totals during the losing stage? yesterday I had:
Cals 1338
Fat 67.4
Pro 137
Carbs 51.6
Fluid 88 oz
Okay, as a DS'er...calories are not important.
Your protein number is excellent. So is your fluid intake. And are you counting net carbs or full carbs. I count full and have about 70-100. Since all carbs (even fiber) affected my blood sugar, I never used the net carbs.
And ONCE you heal, you probably need to up the amount of fat. A DS'er only absorbs about 20% of fat...so your 67 grams yesterday actually was only a little over 13 grams...normal humans need about 30 grams to stay healthy...so start increasing your fat.
Learn to embrace cooking in butter, with bacon grease, with olive oil, fatty meats, etc.
Here is the link to the DS Math
By using DS math, here is your true calorie count for yesterday:
Fat 67.4 x 20% = 13.4 x 9 calories = 120.6
Protein: 137 x 60% = 82.2 x 4 calories = 328.8
Carbs (assuming a mix of kinds) 51.6 x 80% (60% for the green veggie kind and 100% for the white flour/sugar type) = 41.28 x 4 = 165.12 calories.
Total calories used by your body 614.52 compared to the 1338 the you logged.
That is the WONDER of the DS.

Wow,it sure is. I know about the malabsorbing part but the math helps. I will continue to increase fats. not losing by leaps and bounds by any stretch of the imagination. haven't lost any since the initial 8#. could it be because fat is too low still? or just because? lol i know I sound like a rank newbie lol.
You ARE a newbie to the DS, LOL..
You said your revision was three weeks ago? I suspect you've hit the infamous 3 week stall. Just keep plugging away and the magic WILL happen.
Now, it is reported that 2 step DS'ers lose slower than virgin DS'ers.
There are several FB groups for DS'ers...it might help to be there as well. If you post over on FB, send me a friend request.
That is why most DS'ers do not even count calories...if we are eating enough protein/fat, it skews the whole thing and gives places like MFP absolute fits!

oh lord yes,the infamous 3 week stall, lol didn't even THINK about that and I don't even open those posts on the other boards, lol. Sheesh and yeah, guess I am a newbie to the Ds for sure
I dont have a face book acct. Dh does and i just kinda read his but am going to post on the Ds board. I had written a whole big post there and as I was correcting errors, got a power surge and wiped the whole thing out.
I hate when that happens (the power surge).
As to the 3 week stall...it's very real...altho is a wee bit flexible as to the exact week...some hit it as early as 10 days out...others go an entire month.

me too,(power surge) yeah. I am just not going to worry about it. it will happen cause I know I am going to eat the right things. I have worried and fretted enough over the last two years about my weight to last the rest of my life. It was almost like it was pre wls, always obsessing over how to lose. Gah, I had thought those days were over post VSG,but just goes to show ya never know....
