Bit the Bullet...Sleeve to Ds Conversion
I am 13 days post Ds in MX, with Dr. Ponce de Leon. since this was a conversion and not a revision from another surgery type I was perfectly comfortable with him.
After DH found out that 2/3 of my sleeve was protruding onto my lungs every time i laid down, and was a life threatening event,he just insisted we go to Mx for hernia repair. All local surgeons could offer was to revise to the RNY,since i do have reflux but i was totally not going to do that.
so Dh got busy and was going to borrow the $$ from our 401K,but once his boss found out what he needed it for(boss had to sign papers),he offered a loan so we wouldn't' have to go into the 401K. that God for good bosses and friends. Within a weeks time of deciding we were going we went. surgery was March 5 th.
I prob wouldn't have gone for the Ds right now, though I was thinking about it,but since we were going to Mx anyway and anesthesia anyway and only two staples to fix the hernia,it seemed like a waste of a surgical event so we just decided to do it all since we were doing it.
Spent the last two weeks getting used to my DS. Didn't think it would be so different ( ecxept the pale green silvery gray poop and LOTS of it) but little gas since little carbs, but things are different.
Always when I am feeling peaked,my sleeve has more restriction and this has been no different. I have barely been able to tolerate anything even soup wise and now cant stand coffee and can only drink plain ice water, which I could not do pre DS,always had to have something in the water.
I am making myself eat and drink but am still struggling to get the totals up but I know I will get there. Planning to start vits back tomorrow as it is day 14.
I took Dr. Ponce a CD of my UGI which shows the hernia in action for his information on fixing it and he said my sleeve has stretched, probably from pressure of the sleeve protruding thru the hernia every time i lie down. The stretching is likely why I could not lose weight no matter what I did. Everything considered,I am glad i went ahead and did it.
Welcome to the dark side.
I'm so glad things have gone well and you were able to get everything sorted out. Hats off to your hubby's boss too. If you have any questions or concerns just give a holler. One of us LW DSrs will try to help.

Thanks,I'm glad also. the reflux is vastly better, but still there a bit. hoping it will continue to get better but if this is as better as it gets I can definitely deal with it.
cookies...yum,might be worth some gas lol. We shall see down the road. right now,I am rejoicing over have dairy back in my life again!
Wow! So glad you were able to figure out what the problem was.
I think you'll be SO happy you did the conversion... and didn't bend to the Dr's that wanted you to go RNY.
