Good Morning. No intention of freezing my skinny butt off

First of all, I hope all our LWs who are without power will have it restored today (yesterday would have been even better). Second, if you are without power, I hope you are bundled up and staying warm. My heart goes out to you and your family and friends.

It's supposed to be cold here tomorrow and I know the voting lines will be long. I'm planning on keeping my skinny butt as warm as possible during the wait. Liz, what are the best times to go to the polls to avoid the longest lines? Any ideas?

I do encourage you all to vote and don't buy into the paranoid hysteria BS the partisan web sites are promoting. I really hate seeing the country so divided and hate-filled for others who don't agree with their particular brand of politics. Think, people. Don't be manipulated.   :-(

Good morning!  I hate to tell you its 79F here right now at 1:42 pm but well, yeah.  Stay warm.  Isn't the best time to go to the polls mid morning Gina?

I just finished a lunch of 1 piece of small pita and chummus and a cheese stick.

My goal is to find out if our pouches stop working after so many years.  Does the malabsorption stop?  Is this a forever tool?

In the meantime, I am off tomorrow so I have a lot of running around to do in Jerusalem.  Not exactly my idea of fun but I love the public transportation system here.

I've read that RNY malabsorption stops (or at least seriously lessens) after ~12 months as the existing villi adapt and grow longer and learn to better absorb (you still malabsorb vitamins though).

I'm sure you're eating smaller portions due to your pouch though.  I think I eat lots (and I do for someone who's had WLS) but only when I go to a restaurant do I realize that I don't eat that much.  At home I don't serve myself potatoes so there's nothing to leave behind, hence I eat a whole plateful of food (even if it's a small plateful).

Focus on protein first and try and keep liquids away from when you eat so you stay fuller for longer.  If you don't get many replies it may be worth you starting a thread of your own as I'm sure plenty on here have lots of good advice to offer - I only have a passing RNY knowledge.

All the best.

Gina, the lines will be longest when they first open but SHOULD move quickly once the doors open. Then it will get busy again about the time most people do one of these activities: Go to work, go to lunch, finish work. And at the end of the day.

What people fail to realize is IF you are IN line when the polls close, you still can vote. What is done is they put the NICEST old lady or gentleman at the end of the line at the exact time of the polls closing. Anyone in front of that person votes even if it's several hours after the doors close, Anyone behind is told it's too late to get in line. Once that person reaches the main desk and everyone in front of that person has voted, the polls actually do close down.

Example, we had one polling place with over 200 in line when it turned 8PM (the time the polls close). They stuck someone at the end of the line who stayed out there to let everyone who came up after he got in line that it was too late...the voting didn't finish til almost 9:30PM but the polls still officially closed at 8PM per state law.

I'm one of the people they do NOT put out there...too young. LOL.

Make sure you take something to nibble on, a CAPPED water bottle, and something to do while standing in line.

Everyone vote...regardless of how you vote. If you have the right, you have the duty! I know how I want the vote to go but the point of this is to get out and vote and have your voice heard.

I do know parts of NJ are still without power and it looks like it may be the end of the week before it gets restored. I have a friend who lives in NJ within sight of the Manhattan skyline.

I love early voting.  Mine was over and done with last week.  I stood in line for 5 hrs once and since then have found a time to go early.

Bundle up.  The temp drops quickly around here.

I hope all of our LW's are safe and comfortable.  I watch the news clips and I can't even imagine what they are going through.

We are actually suppose to get some warmer weather this weekend and I'm hoping to get DH to put our Christmas lights up.  I won't turn them on but I don't want to be working on them in the freezing cold.

Our voting lines are short and I usually just walk right in after work. Hopefully this year there are more voters and it's a little busier.

I am so sick of everyone else's opinions!   My sister is actually the worst and I can't even stand to read her Facebook posts.  If her candidate looses then we are going to have to hear about that.  The end of this week can't come soon enough!!!!

I totally misread what you put, I read "LWs who are without WILLpower will have it restored today", I was like 'oh cool' LOL

In all seriousness I wish all the best to those who suffered in the storm.

Stay warm Gina!

I already voted - did the "absentee - vote by mail" thing.  No standing in the cold for me!

I can't wait until tomorrow is over.  i wonder what they're going to do with the places that have no power?  Go back to the old "vote by card" and count them by hand?  That would be CUMBERSOME!  But doable
