OT - Prayer request - Swinging requested - Update posted
My daughter was admitted to the hospital late last night/early this morning with a huge abscess on her stomach. Her white blood count was over 17. They started a very powerful IV antibiotic and gave her morphine for the pain. It is so large that they cannot lance it. The surgeon is coming in sometime today to look at it and see if it might have to be surgically removed. They have done all kinds of blood cultures to see what type of infection it is.
As of this morning her white blood count is coming down some but the abscess is not reducing in size and is very hard.
Please swing whatever you have or pray for her. We have DGD#2 with us and are taking care of her and trying to keep up with what is happening at the hospital.
Thanks so much!!
Linda

I my DS
The surgeon came in this afternoon while DH and I were at the hospital. He said the abscess is not "ready" yet to be removed. He said it is too large to be lanced in the room, it will have to be done in the OR. He is going to come back tomorrow morning and look at it to see if it is "ready" then. He told us after it is removed, it will have to be packed daily for atleast 5 days and heal from the inside out. It didn't look nearly as red and swollen this afternoon, but you could still see the large abscess.
There is a small chance that it might heal up without the removal, but he didn't really feel like that would happen. It is some type of staff infection or MRSA and could have come from pretty much anywhere it is so wide spread now.
The white blood count is coming down, but her fever has gone up so they are continuing to watch both of these.
Please continue swinging and praying. Thanks so much everyone.
Linda
I was hoping it was going to come out today. Still swinging. Thanks for keeping us updated.
