5 Day Pouch Experiment

The 5 Day Pouch test is a crash diet. It doesn't teach you how to eat or make you deal with whatever issues are causing the weight gain. I don't recommend it at all.

Also, we need to keep in mind that the most important thing is our health. If we're dealing with a health condition, we need to concentrate on that and not worry about gaining a few pounds here and there. If a medicine makes  you gain weight but it necessary for your health, then that's your new reality.

In my case, I have post-concussion syndrome and it gives me something I call "Restless Head Syndrome" whi*****reases my appetite. My surgeon wanted me to immediately lose the 10 pounds I gained as result a year ago. I told him to bugger off. LOL Seriously. What's 10 pounds in the scheme of things? I have held steady at this weight for months now and these days the Restless  Head Syndrome is much less and I can see my eating volume has gone way down. I assume it will go back to normal when I'm totally healed. And that is where my focus is: on getting better.

IMO you shouldn't go on any crash diet, even if it has a bariatric sounding name.  You should be aggressive about replacing your wardrobe with clothes that actually fit you so you don't feel fat when you aren't and work on developing healthy eating habits (if yours aren't) so you are at your ideal weight within the range your medicines allow.

And go on with your life...

My understanding is that malabsorption ends for RNYers usually about the 18 month point...many do not know this but the villi in our intestines grows back and we absorb most if not all calories again.   I feel for you as seizures are a significant issue.  I havent had hypoglycemia and hope that this is one side effect I do not get.   I can eat oatmeal with no issues but do not have it very often due to the carbs amount.  I eat low sugar oatmeal when I have it.

I feel for your situation...I eat a lot of meat and eggs.....small amounts but getting in  my protein has never been an issue.

Others may have better suggestions...good luck!
