OK, thanks that's a good explanation.

BTW I seem to be reading that iron is better absorbed on an empty stomach - although I'm actually getting more hits for foods rich in iron!! cool

Do you happen to know if it is better absorbed on an empty stomach?

Vitalady told me that she eats a little citrus fruit with her iron. I never thought my sleeve would appreciate iron on an empty stomach but that was just a hunch or old fashioned common sense feeling kicking in.

As I'm now having mine with vitamin C (again) I guess that's the same thing.  It doesn't seem to cause me any upset as the liquid stuff is pretty gentle.

You're probably already doing it, but adding vit C to iron helps absorption - sorry if I stated something you already know (it's still handy for noobs to know).

This thread talks about in office injections which sound great (not an option in the UK according to my PCP though). http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/ds/4485613/Which-iron-infu sion-is-best-Venofer-dextran-ferrlecit-infed/

Or this one mentions liquid iron

My iron has C.  I just have a hard time finding a time to take it when I am not taking calcuim or drinking a protein drink.  I'm going to try to take my last calcuim at supper instead of bedtime and then do the iron at bedtime.  I will have had a protein drink but I always have "just had a protein drink".

Iron doesn't go with a protein drink?

You're not meant to have iron with dairy or eggs.  So if your protein drink has dairy in it then there's no point taking iron as it binds with the protein and isn't absorbed.

Yes that's why I take mine during the night when I get to use the bathroom.
