Needing to reach out
Good morning,
I hope all is well with you. I know I have posted much lately, been feeling a little lost. I know I tend to withdraw when I get this way. I also finding myself really craving the carbs. I have been pretty successful most days on cutting them out recently.
Been doing well with my protein and vites. I need to get in and get my labs checked. Sometimes my thyroid being low can make me feel this way, but last time the level was really good. So if it is still good, thinking I need to get on something for my mood. I think it is fueling this carb obession. Which has allowed me to pack on some pounds, which also is making me feel awful.
Its been a tough summer, my best friend, who lived right down the street from me got divorced and moved over an hour away. We lost a dear cousin (more like a brother to my husband) to lung cancer this month, and we have two other friends fighting cancer too. I also seemed to have lost my desire to go yoga, haven't been walking Buddy as much, feeling like a hermit.
Thank goodness my dear friend Joan, that I met through OH, has been keeping tabs on me. I dont know why I get this way and just want to shut down. I should be celebrating my new life, I have a great husband and good kids, (as good as a 15 and 16 olds can be) beautiful grandkids too. This also makes me like I am Nuts!
So today is a new day, a new opportunity that I will take advantage of. I do need support. Without you guys this is tough.
Thanks!
Maria
Awe Maria...I'm glad you are reaching out to someone. I'm sorry about your friend moving away and cousin passing away. It is really hard when loved ones leave us. Sometimes it makes us feel lost for awhile but they wouldn't want us to continue suffering. Even if your labs come back out of whack it might be good for you to talk to someone. You need to stay healthy and strong for yourself and your family.
You aren't the only one the carb monster is after. Most of us on maintenance deal with that every day. Sharing and reading posts helps you realize that you aren't alone in this. Besides carbs showing up on the scale they can also cause us to be emotional and depressed. Just knowing that my LW's are there for me really helps a lot.

Thanks Roz! You are a blessing to this board!
Sometimes I know things logically, but then the emotions twist them up.
I didnt think about the carbs affecting my mood. Another good reason to stay away from them.
If I am not feeling better, I guess its back to the psychologist, but I am sad, because the one I was seeing postop has left the practice. So I guess its off to find someone else that can deal with postop. I hope she has a good replacement.
Big hugs to you!
Hey, Sweetie, come and talk any time.

Maria - do you think the change of seasons is affecting your mood too? I tend to have SADD in the winter - less light, cold, etc and I tend to gravitate towards carbs then too (ok - I do other times too, but moreso).
You have had a lot happen to you and it's natural you're going to have mood swings and feel down.
((HUGS)) to you - I hope you can bring yourself out - posting here is the first step!

glad you are reaching out and happy to see you again.
I know exercise is one of the furthest things from you wanting to do, but research has shown it is as affective as drugs for lifting depression. If you can make yourself for a couple of weeks, it can help you brighten your spirits. And sometimes, just leaving the house is my best way to get away from carbs (the candy DH insist on keeping).
Meanwhile, we are here for you.

I appreciate the support and know I need to stay in contact with you guys. It really is lifechanging to have such a great support group. I guess I just needed a little reminder, and the will to take better care of myself. Something that I did for the first time by having the surgery and the first 1 1/2 after wards, I guess I got a little lost. But such is life for me and this to shall pass.
What is the saying, without sorrow, one does not know joy, or something like that. Here's to regaining my joy and to staying in touch with the best support group I have come across in over 3 years.
Love my Lw's!
Maria
Maria, glad you reached out here...grief and the lose (either by death or moving) can affect us. And Jody mentioned SAD (which also affects my dh).
Finding a new therapist sounds like a good idea...one who understands wls helps but if you find the right one, you can educate them about it.
Just keep hanging on...we've got your back!

Maria,
I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering how you were doing. Sorry about your friend moving and your cousin passing away. We have several friends right now struggling with cancer. Such a horrible disease.
I know how much you and Buddy enjoyed your walks/runs. Hope you can get back to it soon.
I still have to weigh every morning. I know that if I let it go it can very easily get out of control, but it is easier to get back under control now that it was prior to WLS.
It is so good to hear from you. We are all here for you.
