Good Morning. Let's not talk about that

What are some of the things that you have determined to be taboo topics?

I'll start with politics and the election just to get that out of the way.

How about your aches and pains? I find that I'm bringing them up more and more in general conversation as I get older. I need to STOP!

Next?

Yeah, why is it that our normal greeting for each other is how are you? Which opens the door for a real answer, Well, my knee is still horrible, I had diarreia or whatever.  I also need to learn to say, Fine, how are you. And leave it at that.

Tied into the election and politics, religion and women's issues and the military.  I am staying way from those until after the election.

We talk about stuff here that would be taboo in "normal" settings.  I didn't tell anyone else but my DH that my butt crack was rubbed raw from trail riding  and we certainly discuss potty issues when someone needs to.

While politics may not be on the table...voting is...at least with us...I spend all day thanking people for voting! While I have my opinions, I just thank them for exercising their right to the process. As to anything else, we just sidestep the issue.

The ONLY aches and pains I mention is the feeling of being "rode hard and hung up wet" this week! I don't go into details as all of us are feeling it. Once the doors open every morning, I just tell people I'm fine and we've been BUSY! Busy is good. Better that than bored.

I try not to get into "sensitive" subjects with anyone other than my dh and maybe a couple of other family members.

Have a good day and keep me in your thoughts..another day ahead. We have today, tomorrow and then 4 days next week...then election day!

Liz

cheekyLOL!! great topic !    try politics and sexism  in art ... particularly the ridiculously  testosterone laden field ( God knows why .. sculpting in clay is literally like carving BUTTER cheeky) of life-size  sculpture .

Every day I bite my tongue ... why my 90 year old ( male of course )  teachers won't give me a single meaningful suggestion   for MONTHS despite my paying their mortgage with my hard-earned tuition..and working  hard in front of them three hours per day EVERY day ..  why they foster and promote out of obscurity  male students who make nothing but ugly unsaleable  undeniably  flawed and immature garbage ....who are clearly not ready for prime time as they say .

In my opinion not only are they doing ME wrong , they're  doing these male students wrong also who clearly can't handle  relatively " small " lifesize  sculptures " successfully so how can they be expected to make the most out of a " monumental " " public"  displaying opportunity ?

Due to my teachers' weeks of relentless daily criticism .. I tore apart the ONE statue in our class that actually  looked GOOD (  and was sold BTW ) .  Now i'm TOTALLY regretting it .  Rather than help me fix a few obvious flaws , they criticised  indiscriminately the stylization of the whole thing (  YES ITS A PIECE OF ART   DUH surprisecheeky and the stylization was absolutely DELIBERATE   and looked GREAT .

The whole darn statue looked GORGEOUS  and now its permanently GONE thanks to these fools and THIS fool that listened to them .coolI only have three more days with the model to restore  what took me  six WEEKS to sculpt originally .

I have learned to respond with "very well thank you" and that can even open up a can of worms! People dont appreciate chipper either!

Politics, religion, pms, hemorrhoids and constipation are also a no no! lol

No one, bar from a couple of other pet lovers, wants to talk about the huge flea problem we are having here due to the hot dry summer we had.

Lets not forget depression,  I think I am having another bout of the blues. Hence of the lack of me posting lately, but I have been reading on my days off keeping up with my LW's.

I think my list could go on and on this morning!

Great topic as always Gina!

I seldom complain...DH does that enough for both of us...LOL  Sometimes that gets me in trouble though because I'm asked to do things that I'm just to darn warn out to do but usually in the end it makes me feel better helping someoneelse  out.

I'm sick of Politics!!!!  I'm sick of everyone promoting a particular candidate on Facebook.  I wish there was a dislike button, but I know I wouldn't use it even if there was.

When I worked at the Jewelry store I realized that older couples like to bicker and I swore we would never do that!  DH and I seemed to be doing that a lot while DD and family was living us but now since our house is a lot calmer and cleaner I've noticed it isn't happening as much.  We need to get back to enjoying each other.

I TRY not to talk about my girls and grandkids all of the time.....

My aches and pains.  I usually make fun of myself and make light of them, but they really are there - lol.  Basically my arthritic toe.. makes wearing any cute shoes not happen (oh and the new cute shoes i bought when we went shopping - bother me - I can't win).

Poliltics.  yes, I tend to put a few cartoons and share a few things on FB, but I'm not going to get into the nitty gritty issues that are being debated all over the place.  I can't wait until it's over.

Now grandkids?  Yep - perfectly fine to talk and brag about :)

Also I can't ***** about not having a man around to help me with the big stuff and reach high places.  It irks me I have to pay someone to do this stuff, but in the end it's all mine.

I have no desire to talk politics right now - like everyone else I'm ready for it to be over.

I probably talk about my DGD's way too much.  I love them so much!!

Aches & pains - love fall, but this colder weather brings out the aches & pains.  My legs are still twitching & cramping and drive me crazy sometimes.  I finally got an appointment with a neurologists -November 29th-soonest appointment.
