I just scheduled my Plication for January 18th! I am so thrilled. I have a BMI of 33.3 and was looking for some insight on others that had WLS with a low BMI.
How has the experience been? How are you holding up? Is the weight coming off fast/slow/steady? Complications?
I would love to hear your story.

That was my BMI. I'm 5'1 was 181 on August 6th. I've lost 27 pounds and have stalled twice. I have great restriction when I eat protein first. I have been able to eat regular food since  two weeks out. I have no trouble eating anything ever, so I have a little more difficult time being good. I would like to see 133 and my surgeon says 140. I get impatient but look at the whole picture , when have I ever lost 27 pounds in less than 3 months. Good luck on your journey!

Welcome to the LW Board.

I've never heard of that surgery.  I looked it up and it sounds pretty interesting.  I had RNY and am very pleased with the results.  I hope you will stay on the board to offer another surgery view to others.

Where are you having the surgery?  Good luck.

Linda

Well, my husband is sleeved and he has had amazing success but I choose (for a piece of mind)  Plication so that my stomach was not being gutted. Mentally I know that if i EVER had to reverse it ,I could. I will be here to share my journey once ive had the surgery.

If you are having the plication because it is reversible then I would do more research.  I have heard that after a short time the stomach folds form scar tissue and adhesions and is basically very difficult if not impossible to reverse.  I would talk to your surgeon and get his opinion on the reversibility of the procedure.  Also, with the sleeve you are removing the part the produces ghrelin.  I had most of my stomach removed with my surgery and I am almost never hungry.  With my first WLS I had a sleeve that was left very large and I was always hungry.  I love not being hungry to tell the truth.

Welcome.  I was also RNY and have been thrilled with my progress.  Lost a little over 100lbs and have kept it off for over a year.  Still learning maintainance.  My loss was steady but slowed down around 5-6 months.  Still, I was at goal after a year.  No complications and no problems eating anything.  Looking forward to sharing your journey with you.
