Good Morning. Simple Public Service Announcement
Take time to think and be kind; and that includes the clerk at the store, the small business owner, your kid's teacher, the old lady holding up progress, the nurse...ok, and the doctor. You guys get the picture. Oh, and please teach your kids too...Lord knows nobody else is.
Why the PSA this morning? I had a message back from Michelle/Vitalady and she was relaying a story about some folks coming in and getting her usual free protein shake tasting. They drank a lot of samples and walked out talking about where they could go to buy the shakes they found they liked. {sigh} It just hurts my heart for people to take advantage of others, especially someone as giving as Michelle has always been. Michelle says the protein powder issues (poorer quality and higher prices) have driven down business. I don't think people realize how hard she tries to keep her prices down and her quality up for us.

Cost have certainly gone up. I just did my protein order and things that were in the $20 range are now in the $30 range. It adds up. Sorry they did that to Vitalady.
Got to get some stuff together for another audit. Seems like the state has nothing better to do. Then the vet comes at 12 to see if we can figure out what is going on with Chili's foot. He looked better yesterday but was definately lame when I called her on Monday. Maybe he will be like those children that are screaming in pain when you make the Dr's appt and all sunshine and light when it is time for the appt.
Have a good Friday everyone.

That's not right...I will agree that not all samples sit well with people but if you find one you do like, you should buy it from her. And actually Don wants feedback on samples...esp ones you don't like as to exactly why...like too gritty, too sweet, etc so they can figure out the ones to keep. When he was staying with us last June, I went thru several samples I still had on hand and gave him feedback...we ordered the two favorites from them later.

One thing I have learned from my new job is how to be a nicer person. I have to admit that I haven't always been nice to people like store clerks and customer service people on the phone. Not that I have been mean but I just have been short and snippy if I feel they aren't doing a good job. Now that the shoe is on the other foot I have seen where I could have been more patient and understanding. I have had several people who have displayed a great deal of patience and understanding while I am still learning my job and I am so grateful to them. And I have had people like myself who would get short and complain and I found that if I treated them with kindness I got the same in return. So it's a lesson I have learned, again. Treat people the way I want to be treated. Gee, where have I heard that before.
As far as protein prices, I haven't really found any protein that I love enough to spend a whole lot of money on. I have been buying Body Fortress just because it's cheap, available and it does the job. I was buying the unflavored isolate online. I got 50 lbs for $200, which was a great price, but I think it went fast because the scoops were pretty large. I don't think I got as many servings out of that much as I would of with other products. I was happy with the quality, though, and it worked good in everything I used it with as far as cooking and recipes as well as shakes. I am thinking of buying some more. I think the last batch I bought lasted about 4 or 5 months, which is still about $50 a month. I am paying about $30 a month for the 2 containers of Body Fortress I use. My protein numbers have been pretty good so I don't know if it makes a whole lot of difference except the unflavored is more versatile and more tolerable as far as taste.
I just went back over my labs and it seems that my numbers are actually higher now with the Body Fortress then a year ago with the unflavored isolate. I have to admit that I was suspicious of the quality because of the low price and I guess numbers don't lie. A year ago my protein was 6.2 and my albumin was 4.0. My most recent last month my protein was 6.9 and my albumin was 3.9 so I guess the Body Fortress isn't hurting me. And I was using a lot more of the isolate because I had so much. I probably used it 4 times a day where now I use the Body Fortress 2 or 3 times a day since I am getting more protein from my food now then I was a year ago.
Fortunately I'm not terribly picky about taste. Being poor does that to you. As long as it is tolerable and not hideous I will use it.
