Good Morning. Restriciton

I was trying to eat pork loin chops last night for dinner and I realized what a blessing my restriction is. I might not be able to nourish my body with only real food but I can nouri**** with protein shakes, vitamins and softer foods. I just have to be very vigilant not to fall into the carb trap. For some dang reason carby foods are way too easy to eat even with good restriction.

Be vigilant, lightweights.

Oh yes, protein first is a must. It's amazing how much carby food you can eat otherwise!!

I sometimes think my restriction is just gone.  Then I look around me at what others are eating and I realize I am eating far less and maybe I just stop before I am at the breaking point.  Which is good but I have found that if I spread out eating, I can eat way more than I should.  Like if you have hor'dorves, then a salad, then dinner and wait a while, then desert.  I know we shouldn't eat fast, no one should.  But if I spread a meal out, I eat too much.

And why is it that carbs seem to take up so much less room? is it just that they digest faster or slide through?

Taking the car in for service, a trip south to the vet to pick up Poppy's allergy shots then home to see if Chili is still lame.  Keep your fingers crossed.

I love it when I eat a few bites of something and I'm full - usually it is pork or chicken.  Let's me be assured my pouch is still there and working.

Oh carbs - what can I say - I can eat a lot of those and they go down so easy....

Work today at my real office.  I'm doing my new job also and so far so good.  I will probably travel there once a week this month and then hopefully taper off to once a month and do most of the work from here.  It was much better yesterday - now can't wait for that bigger paycheck!!

We have a board meeting this afternoon.  DH has to pick up DGD#2, get her ready and take her to dance class-LOL!!  He is so nervous, even though he is taking her by my nieces work and she is going to put the tights on her.  I've had to go over it with him about a hundred times already.  She is going to spend the rest of the week with us starting tomorrow because her mom is going out of town for work and dad has to leave too early for work to get her to school.  So we should be good and tired by Friday night.

I can't wait for the restriction! I'm really trying to keep everything tight so I will hit my weight goal by the end of next month and be able to get referred to the surgeon at the end of my 6 month program (instead of having to continue longer until I lose it.)

On the subject of carbs, I actually found something I can keep in my cabinet as a snack that doesn't make me crave more, and provides a nice little treat when I'm hungry post-dinner. It's amazing. I've pretty much never been able to have anything that's not a veggie or protein be a safe snack. I bought a box of granola thins at costco a couple of weeks ago, they're coated with dark chocolate on one side. I have 1 or 2 and it's genuinely satisfying. Don't know if I will continue with them post-surgery though.

I started using the Nike+ app for my iphone this weekend to track my outdoor walking (that will turn to running again once I lose a little more weight and my knees/ankles feel a little better). Definitely recommend it to anyone that runs and takes long walks outside! Plus it's free. I'd been plugging headphones into my phone for exercising since I got a new car and leave the ipod in there for music, so it's perfect.

I think it's absolutley crazy how carbs go down so easy and I don't seem to fill up. I was terrified to eat popcorn.  I figured it would scratch the whole way down but it is definitely a slider for me.  I have to buy the single serve size because I think I could eat a whole box at one time and not even fill full.

Pork is usually a nightmare for me.  I buy boneless pork chops that are super tender and it gets stuck almost every single time. I can do roasted Chicken but I have to eat it slow.  I'm amazed how some posters can eat 3 or 4 oz. of meat at a meal.  I'm lucky to get 2 oz. in.

I think I have a lot of Restriction because I eat small meals and rely on my Protein Drinks to reach my Protein totals.

I try to stay away from "white carbs" as much as possible and modify recipes so that I can have my "breads" and "treats" that are low/no carb and have a decent amount of protein.

Chicken really seems to fill me up but funnily enough Beef does NOT.  I could easily eat an 8 oz steak. I still weigh my food and will only eat 3.5 to 4 oz of beef but I am still HUNGRY after eating it. So now I really don't bother with it or eat broccoli with it which will make me feel satisfied.

Well... I pushed ny pouch boundaries today.  I ate too much.  The last bite put me down and it was kinda dry chicken.  I was in serious PAIN.  Haven't had that happen in forever, and of course no Papaya enzymes to my name.

Our pouches and sleeves will remind us when we err seriously... I was told I didn't eat that much - but I felt I ate a LOT for ME.

I ened up sleeping the afternoon away trying to feel better.  It worked.  Luckily for me I was working from home today.

Carbs are my downfall and right now I'm back on that slippery slope. I'm about 19 months out and current weight is 137#. My personal goal was 125# and I just can't get that last 10 pounds off and I'm sure it is because of the carbs.  They are handy to pack or grab as a snack on the run.  But I'm up a few pounds this week so I looked this morning at what I packed for my workday yesterday....

protein shake, small bag popcorn, Special K pastry crips (100c), cottage cheese and homemade chicken noodle soup.  Ok...the shake, cottage cheese and soup weren't too bad but did I really need the popcorn and bar? Nope. So this morning I packed two shakes and my soup---and left all my dollars and change at home so I wouldn't be tempted to raid the vending machine....

Hubby bought me an extra blender base for me to keep at work so I can have my coffee/protein blended with ice in the afternoons...which I hope will get me through that "snacky" time.

I'm on the verge of doing a 5 day pouch test to try and break my carb love...
