Which surgery you had will kinda dictate the answer. And if you have doubts about a medicine, ask the pharmacist.

I know we are only suppose to take Tylenol like products and I will probably pay for it later by Tylenol just isn't strong enough when it is really bad so I have to take ibprophen occasionally.

Roz... I do too... But I have noticed that instead of taking 400mg or more like I used to, I can 200mg and it works.... I also make sure I take nexium about 30 mins before to help protect my pouch... If its really bad I will take 1 excedrin and that normally helps.... I had a hysterectomy years ago and I think I'm getting them around the time I ovulate since I have my ovaries... I'm very careful with what I take... But there has to be something out there we can take other then Tylenol....
I've been having problems with headaches for months now. Tylenol does nothing for them. I've even gotten desperate and taken Aleve and Ibuprofen (with Prilosec after consulting with my doctor) and that didn't do a thing, either. Really nothing even makes a dent in them but Vicodin. I take the 5mg, which is not strong at all and sometimes it takes it down a notch or two, like a Tylenol should act but doesn't. I wish there was something that would help.
