I overcame my fear of the scale :)
RNY on 08/27/12
I posted about a week ago regarding my fear of the scale and how in the past, frequent weigh-ins led to sabotage of my efforts. If I didn't lose 'X' number of pounds, I'd think to myself, "Why am I bothering to eat right and exercise if I cannot lose any weight!?".....
Well, my surgery was on 8/27, so I am a day shy of being a month out. I decided to step on the scale because I really wanted to know where I was at a month out from surgery. Originally, I was going to wait until my 6 week followup...Well....
My starting weight the day of surgery was 238.2 and as of this morning I was 215, so that's about 23 lbs for the first month. I am retaining some water (tight rings) as my period is due tomorrow, so who knows, maybe it's a few lbs more....either way, I'll take it! I know that many of you probably lost way more than that, but I am satisfied with my progress. I had convinced myself that this tool would not work for me. I've changed my mind. I will continue to follow my surgeon's suggestions, exercise, eat healthfully, and watch the lbs melt away. I know that every month will not be the same, but as a previous poster advised me, I am learning to just do the right thing, and to not have expectations for myself. That is working for me :)
Thanks all :)

Great post, I too feel this won't work for me at times. I can eat anything and nothing gives me trouble. I don't even get sick. So I still have to make sure I weigh everything and measure. The hard part is staying off the sweets and chips come "girly week" or I'll gain 3 pounds! Anyway inspiring post, thanks!
Yep if works if you work it. Just keep on keeping on. It will keep working. Promise.
