Good Morning. Trust but verify

On another group I belong to a poster was so discouraged because she was trying to cut her carbs but one item she routinely uses in her coffee comes across as 40 carbs. Well, that just didn't seem right after we stopped to verify the information. It would seem that someone who was building the database, or had added to it, put the calorie count in place of the carb count. Just a thought, trust but verify the online tools you use and make sure you're reading the right column...trust but verify. In my case, I could have easily picked up the calorie count as the carb count...these old eyes ain't what they used to be but I can still think.

I hope everyone has a great Thursday...almost the weekend!

Vet coming this morning to see Chili.  He has a hot foot and it is the same foot that he broke the coffin bone in this time last year.  Very frustrating because we had lots of fun stuff lined up that now I have to rethink.  Like a clinic this weekend that I now can't imagine he will be sound for so I lose my money or take Poppy.  Hummmmm.

Work stuff looming over me and need to work on the quilt to get it done.  Busy day.

Sounds like what *I* did YEARS ago when I got my diabetes diagnosis...I was in shock, mostly knew it was happening but the actual reality was much harder to handle. Didn't help that it was the last 2 weeks before Christmas and I had been baking/making Christmas candy for the previous two weeks and my kitchen was FULL of sweets!

Anyway, I get home and try to find something in my pantry I could eat...by then the "WATCH your carbs" message had been said...so I was reading labels. Picked up a can of TUNA, and read the cholesterol line AS the carb line...put it down and went to cry in the shower...felt absolutely sucky that I could not even eat TUNA. Once my pitty party was over, I went reading again and realized what I had done...but it can easily happen.

So yes, trust BUT verify...the easiest ones are the actual labels or photos of them. Then you can see it for yourself.

Yeap, almost the weekend....not doing much here...need to find something to do that does NOT require 1) money 2) going outside. I am still getting bit by mosquitoes.

Ahh yes - I remember that happening to me.  It can be confusing, especially if you're using a site that has multiple inclusions of the same item.  I'd end up getting my container and looking at it, to see which one was right.

I had a weird one at McDonald's the other day. I often have a burger there and they have 14g protein. I decided to go for a double cheeseburger instead that time. On the wrapper it said 12g protein - WTH!!

I checked on line and it said 26g so I went with that as 12g didn't make sense. It's weird how a double cheeseburger equals 26g and a single burger no cheese is 14g.

Also a BK whopper is 30g whereas a double whopper is 50g!! They must make the patties smaller for the doubles!!

Note these are UK figures and the amounts may be different in other countries.
