My husband came home from a trip. I filled him in on all the appointments I've done since he was gone...dietician, medical doc, fitness, and a support group....and he listened and asked questions. No accusations. No saying I should be able to do it by just not eating. It felt so good to talk with him without him judging. And for the first time I was able to admit to both him and to myself that the only thing keeping me from being 100% about the surgery isn't the fear of the complications, it's the fear of giving p the foods I love to eat.  He is fearful because of the actual surgery....I'm afraid of what the surgery is supposed to do.

You will be able to have most of those beloved foods again, maybe not soon or certainly not like you used to.  But I don't desire them like I used to either.  It's a process and you are well on your way to making a great move for good health.  Try to take him to a support meeting with you or to your Dr visits.  It sure helps when they are on board and supportive.

I was afraid like you, of losing the food too.  It's going to be just fine.  It's not like going on the many diets of the past.  Most people can have everything eventually.  I allow myself almost everything but just one bit if it's naughty.  I am not tempted like I use to be by food.  I avoid triggers as most people do too.  I have the sleeve and it has changed me.  I don't want those sugary  things anymore.  Gina posted something a few weeks ago about fair food and all that chimmed in agreed.  You should search "corn dog" and see what comes up.  It's really the best thing I've ever done (typing this in a size 4 pair of shorts).  So glad you have a supportive husband.  Mine is supportive too and he was scared of the surgery too.  It's normal and healthy.

My DH was dead set against my having surgery.  About a month ago, he said, "I'm officially going on the record, that you were right.  You look great, you are so much happier and healthier.  I am glad you had the surgery.  I should have been more supportive!".   Maybe that will happen to you too.  Stick to your guns-it's worth it!
