I'm not sure, but that was the reference range  listed next to my results. We are asked to supplement with 100mg of B1 on a daily basis

Tonya, my lab (LabCorp) lists 66.5 to 200.00 as their reference value. So yeah, 16 is very low.

I logged onto the hospital website and went the lab Services page.  I work there but didn't know I could do that.  My lab was plasma and normals are 8-30 nmol/L.  I am well within normal limits.  I got so excited for a few minutes.  Now I want to cry.  The doctors think I have arachnoiditis cauda equina which is incurable.  Beriberi is curable within a week if caught early enough.  Damn.  Thanks for the prompt replies.

I am getting 3 days of IV solu-medrol starting tomorrow.  It will put me at risk for ulcers.  But the benefits outweigh the risks.  I have doubled up my PPI for preventive measure.  I will also eat a large meal, well 8 oz of food,  immediately prior to help lessen the risk.  Please keep swinging for me!

No, but during my depressive last 3 months I wasn't very diligent about my vitamins.  I spoke to my surgeon when I started getting bleeding gums and he said go back to what I was taking, be diligent and we will draw labs in 3 months.  I take 2 MVI, 3 calcium, Proferrin, Biotin and B12.  My 3 month labs were all high normal or high.  We will make adjustments then.

How about adding a 100mg B-complex? That couldn't hurt.

I will pick it up at the store today.  Any restrictions as when to take it?  My med/vitamin schedule is complicated enough.  :-)
