...but who's counting? lol  I am.  There's a lot I'd like to get done this weekend. Don't know why I feel a little pressure; maybe it's the cooler weather has me thinking about the winter to come and the potential for getting snowed in as we were a couple of years ago. Funny how that can play on your mind.

Do you ever find yourself trying to plan for emergencies? Keeping the things you need to stay healthy stored up in your freezer or cupboards in case you can't get to a grocery store or your power and water are cut off for a few days? What would you have on your "survival list"? Do you have a stash of your stuff?

Tuna is the only thing that comes to mind.  Thankfully where I live I've never been cut off for more than a few hours.

how funny, tuna may be the last thing on my list.

We did get a generator a couple of years ago after a long blackout.  Our major problem is water for the horses if we can't get out and the power is out.  It won't run everything but will run the important stuff.

DH has always accused  me of being a mini-hoarder.  When something is on sale, I buy more than one.  I almost always have a stock of important things.  Fills up the cabniets but makes me feel better about the world.

These days I am getting protein in 5#bags mostly and have an extra tub of lemon tea and caribbean cooler in the closet.  I buy my vits at CVS when they have buy one get one free days and so I always have a stock of those. I order many boxes of protein bars at a time to get free shipping so I always have several options of those.  I'm pretty well stocked, I think.

It isn't stocking that I need to do, it's organizing and throwing out.

We keep our 5 gallons of water fresh and up to date. We have some dried and canned foods for 5 days...and always enough food for several weeks for the dogs and cats. First aid kits plus extra meds. We also have extra fuel on hand. That's about it. We experienced 5 days of no power and no clean water after a cat 3 hurricane came through DC many years ago. That same year a major snow storm blocked us in for 6 days....literally couldn't get out of the driveway. Ever since,we have always taken seriously some level of preparedness. Takes up almost no room and is definitely worth it! One thing I don't have is a "go bag" if we need to leave the house.

Nope.  I probably have enough protein to last me 6 months.. and that's if I drank it daily.  The rest, not really... vitamins, I had to really use up my sta**** was getting out of control.

I'd be one of those running to the store at the last minute and fighting in the aisles over a gallon of water or milk....

So glad it is Friday!!

I have protein powder and bottled water stored up and that is about it.  I buy my vitamins as I run out no abundance there except calcium chews.  I'm probably not a very good planner for emergencies.  I have lots of stuff in my cabinets I could eat if I had too!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Here I am a day late, but how appropriate this topic is!  I spent yesterday boarding up the windows for Hurricane Issac's imminent arrival.  We have everthing ready because of our lesson learned in 2004.  It was our first year living in Florida and we were hit by 3 major hurricanes...sigh...
